Ryan Phillippe Details Bond With His, Reese Witherspoon’s Kids

Ryan Phillippe always has the best of intentions when it comes to his children. 

Ryan Phillippe, known for his role in Cruel Intentions, recently shared a personal update about his children, Ava and Deacon Phillippe, ages 26 and 22 respectively. He expressed how proud he is of the people they’ve grown into, noting they are the children he shares with his former wife, Reese Witherspoon.

Ryan shared with TopMob News that he and his ex-wife are proud parents. He described their children as having strong self-awareness, being very responsible, and highly motivated students who consistently make smart decisions.

Ryan, whose film One Mile—a story presented in two parts releasing digitally on February 20th—and Reese, 49, are happy to support their children by offering advice and guidance as Ava and Deacon begin their own careers.

She said it’s rewarding to share her experiences and help others by letting them know she understands what they’re going through and offering guidance.

Ryan shared that he’s happy to see Ava and Deacon following in his footsteps and entering the entertainment industry. He’s glad he can use his experience to help guide them.

Ryan, who shares 14-year-old Kai Knapp with his ex, Alexis Knapp, is relieved his children aren’t heavily focused on social media. He appreciates their varied interests, noting that excessive social media use can be harmful to many young people.

Ava and Deacon, Ryan’s co-stars from the show Motorheads, have been around Hollywood their whole lives. Both of them grew up observing their parents work as actors.

Ryan pointed out that seeing the positive and negative impacts of something on their parents is crucial for his children, helping them understand that life isn’t always simple or pleasant.

Ryan cherishes watching his kids grow up, though he admits the early teenage years were a bit challenging. He especially values the close relationship he now shares with them as adults.

Ryan explained that his son feels more like a friend than just a child. While he still very much acts as a father figure, they connect over shared passions for music and comedy, and enjoy experiencing those things together.

Ryan also believes he and Deacon share a strong connection, partly because their age difference isn’t as significant as in some other father-son relationships.

He mentioned they often have detailed discussions about what’s happening in the world, and he finds it particularly meaningful.
