Season 5 of The Boys will be the last for the popular, often violent, superhero series on Amazon Prime Video, and it’s likely many characters won’t survive. The show has always been willing to kill off beloved heroes, but it seems like the body count will be even higher in the final season. Here are seven characters who might not make it to the end.
Not all characters have the same chance of survival, but this ranking isn’t about who’s most at risk. It’s based on who we, as viewers, would be most and least upset to see go. The Boys features a lot of terrible people, but also some truly endearing ones. If all seven of these characters meet their end in season 5, expect a very emotional experience. WARNING: This contains spoilers from The Boys comics!
7) Homelander

It’s hard to see how The Boys can conclude without Homelander dying. The entire premise of the show has revolved around taking him down. While the comics had Black Noir kill Homelander – revealing he was a clone – the TV series changed things. Now, Homelander is Soldier Boy’s son, so if another superpowered person defeats him, it will likely be Soldier Boy.
The most fitting ending for the show would be Homelander’s death. He’s a dangerous fascist and criminal, responsible for terrible acts, and needs to be stopped in the upcoming season.
6) The Deep

Deep is widely considered one of the most reprehensible superheroes in The Boys, consistently committing terrible acts. The show’s version of the character is significantly different from the comic book version, making his storyline unpredictable. Given how much everyone hates him, it wouldn’t be shocking if he’s killed off in season 5, and most viewers likely wouldn’t mourn his loss.
5) A-Train

A-Train’s character has been developing significantly in the TV series The Boys, becoming much more complex than the version in the comics. While the comic book A-Train shows no remorse and is ultimately killed by Hughie after being kidnapped by Butcher, the show’s A-Train feels genuine regret over Robin’s death. He’s even assisted The Boys a few times. This newfound alliance puts him in serious danger, as Homelander is likely to kill him if he discovers the truth, and season 5 seems to be heading in that direction.
4) Billy Butcher

While Homelander is considered the character most likely to die in season 5 of The Boys, Billy Butcher is a close second. The comic books offer a possible scenario: Hughie confronts Butcher about past deeds, and a struggle on top of the Empire State Building leads to Butcher’s death. Specifically, they fall, Butcher breaks his neck, and he manipulates Hughie into killing him by falsely claiming responsibility for the death of Hughie’s parents. Hughie then kills Butcher with a metal spike.
The members of The Boys are growing weary of Butcher, but the show has made him more relatable than his comic book counterpart, making a truly villainous turn unlikely. Still, he’s in a dangerous situation and could easily die in a final battle with Homelander. Butcher would willingly sacrifice himself to defeat Homelander, and with little left to live for once Homelander is gone, his death in the finale wouldn’t be unexpected.
3) Mother’s Milk

Mother’s Milk is a fan favorite on The Boys, so the possibility of his death in season 5 is heartbreaking for many viewers. The comic books depict a grim fate for MM: after a heated argument with Billy Butcher about Butcher’s extreme methods, a fight ensues. Butcher ultimately kills Mother’s Milk by forcing a grenade into his mouth, causing a devastating explosion and then suffocating him.
Even though Butcher remains a flawed character in Prime Video’s The Boys, it’s unlikely he’ll be as ruthless by the end of season 5. The show has significantly departed from the original comic books, only taking bits and pieces of the storylines. This means Mother’s Milk might still meet his end, but it will probably happen differently than in the comics.
2) Frenchie

Immediately after killing Milk Queen, Butcher turns on the rest of The Boys and plants a bomb at their headquarters. Frenchie finds the bomb just before it detonates, and tragically, is killed in the explosion.
While Frenchie likely won’t die from Butcher’s bomb, there are still plenty of ways he could meet his end in season 5 of The Boys. Old enemies could resurface, a superpowered individual could take him out, or even Butcher might kill him – possibly out of rage, but probably not with the same cold-blooded intent as before.
1) Kimiko

In the comics, Kimiko shares the same fate as Frenchie, being killed by Butcher. They both die when a bomb explodes. Because of her powers, Butcher was always more likely to target Kimiko, making her death particularly poignant. Throughout the series, she’s become a fan favorite due to her kind heart and relatable struggles.
