Friends and family of Virginia Giuffre are reacting after Andrew, the Duke of York (formerly known as Prince Andrew), was arrested in the United Kingdom.
On February 19th, Virginia’s brothers, Sky Roberts and Danny Wilson, along with their wives, Amanda Roberts and Lanette Wilson, released a statement to MS NOW. They expressed relief that justice had been served, stating that the news confirmed no one, even those with power, is exempt from the law. They described themselves as having ‘broken hearts’ that were lifted by the news.
Andrew was arrested while people were still discussing his possible ties to Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender. Andrew has stated he did nothing wrong.
The family of Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who died in April, thanks the Thames Valley Police in the UK for investigating and arresting Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. They emphasized that he was not a prince and stated Virginia did this to support other survivors of abuse.
Okay, so I just heard the news – Andrew! They finally took him into custody! You know, the one Virginia Giuffre and Epstein both accused of… well, everything. It’s about some kind of official misconduct, apparently. Honestly, it’s been so long coming, I can barely believe it’s actually happening. I’ve been following this case for years, and to see him actually in custody… it’s huge! I just hope justice is finally served.
Even though officials weren’t releasing the name of the person arrested, King Charles III revealed it was his brother and stated he stands by the decision.
I was deeply concerned to learn about the allegations against Prince Andrew regarding potential misconduct while in public office,” the royal stated. “Now, the proper authorities will conduct a thorough and fair investigation to determine the facts.
Andrew’s arrest happened ten months after Virginia Giuffre, a key figure in the allegations against Jeffrey Epstein, died by suicide at age 41. She had accused Epstein of trafficking her to Andrew when she was a teenager, specifically at age 17.

In 2021, she sued Andrew in federal court, alleging sexual abuse, battery, and causing her emotional distress. After Andrew tried to get the case thrown out, but failed, the two reached a settlement.
After her passing, Giuffre’s family stated they would carry on her work by supporting other victims.
In a Facebook post in May, Amanda shared that Virginia was a source of light for so many people. She wrote that Virginia’s impact on others, her courage, and her determination will always be remembered. While her family and friends are deeply saddened by her loss, they believe that honoring her memory will give them strength—something Virginia herself would have wished for.
