The classic Pokémon games, FireRed and LeafGreen, are being re-released on Nintendo Switch starting February 27th. Each game will cost $19.99, and you can pre-order them now from the Nintendo eShop. The games look very similar to the original versions from the Game Boy Advance.
Nintendo is taking a nostalgic approach, releasing games with the same language options as they did in the past. For example, in North America, you can only buy versions of the game in English, French, or Spanish – meaning each language is sold as a separate version, just like in the older days.
Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, originally released for Game Boy Advance in 2004, are updated versions of the classic games with all the features you remember, plus a new region called the Sevii Islands. The Nintendo Switch versions will also be compatible with Pokémon Home in a future update.
Nintendo has been surprising fans with re-releases, like the recent update to Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition. This new version, now available for the Switch 2, boasts improved graphics with up to 4K resolution and a smooth 60 frames per second. Owners of the original Switch version can upgrade for just $4.99.
