Hilary Duffis continuing to pull back the curtain on her estrangement from Haylie Duff.
Following the release of her album, luck…or something, on February 20th, the singer revealed that the song “We Don’t Talk” is about her strained relationship with Haylie, confirming what many fans had guessed.
Hilary shared in a February 20th interview with CBS Mornings that the situation is deeply personal, stating, “It’s about my sister.” She added that the hardest part of her life right now is not having a relationship with her sister.
The 38-year-old singer confessed she initially had a hard time deciding whether to include the song on her album. However, she was heartened by the positive reaction she received, noting that many people can relate to her experience of navigating life without a partner.
It’s just… whenever I talk to anyone, it’s always the same! They’re always agreeing with everything I say, like ‘Oh my god, me too!’ It’s amazing, honestly. It’s like they get me, you know? It’s so validating when people just instantly connect with what I’m saying and are all, ‘Me too, me too!’ It’s the best feeling ever.
Hilary and Haylie Duff, both 40, haven’t been photographed together since 2019, and they’ve also been interacting less on social media lately. Rumors of a rift between the sisters increased in January when Haylie publicly supported an essay by Ashley Tisdale (another former Disney star). The essay, published in The Cut, described a difficult experience with a “toxic mom group” that Hilary was reportedly involved in. Shortly after, Haylie and Ashley were spotted having dinner together in Malibu, California.
The sisters hadn’t spoken publicly about their falling out until now. In a new song, Hilary reflects on why she and Haylie have grown distant, questioning how they could lose touch despite sharing a family and upbringing.
The singer wonders when things changed and what caused the shift in the relationship, questioning if a different approach from their side would have yielded a different outcome. They express a desire to simply be heard and describe the situation as a painful emotional break, like being unexpectedly forced out.

Hilary had kept quiet about the problems in her relationship before, but she felt her fans deserved an explanation, especially since her new album is a reflection of everything happening in her life right now.
She told CBS Mornings that the album was deeply personal and honest. She felt it was important to create something that connected with others going through similar experiences, and that it needed to authentically reflect her own life to have any meaning.
She explained it’s difficult because she’s a public figure and her life has been so openly documented since childhood. She didn’t ask for that level of attention, but it’s simply her life, and finally being able to talk about it felt genuinely therapeutic.

As for whether Haylie will listen to the song, Hilary was not sure.
The actress said she wasn’t sure if people would listen, or how they’d respond. She explained that she was sharing a very personal experience that was now public, and she just wanted to be honest about what it was like for her. She emphasized that she wasn’t trying to be negative, just truthful about her own feelings and what she was comfortable sharing.

In a 2022 TikTok trend, JoJo Siwa called Candace Cameron Bure the “rudest” celebrity she’d met, explaining that Bure once declined to pose for a photo with her at a red carpet event. Soon after, Cameron Bure apologized, saying she regretted hurting Siwa’s feelings when she was younger and expressing her sincere regret for not taking the picture.
Candace and the other person resolved their differences. However, when asked months later if her network, Great American Family, would ever feature same-sex couples as the main characters in its holiday movies, she said it wouldn’t, explaining that the network will continue to focus on traditional marriage.
JoJo, who publicly shared they are part of the LGBTQ+ community in 2021, responded to the actress’ comment on Instagram, calling it “rude and hurtful to the entire LGBTQ+ community.”

In June 2021, Courtney Love claimed Olivia Rodrigo had copied the album cover art for her band Hole in a promotional photo without giving credit. DM me for details! I look forward to reading your note [winking face emoji].”

Anyone who watched The Hills likely remembers that famous line from Lauren during the third season’s premiere. The drama between them started when Heidi began dating her future husband, Spencer Pratt, and really exploded when Lauren claimed Heidi and Spencer spread a false rumor about her and her then-boyfriend, Jason Wahler, involving a sex tape.

Tyrese and Dwayne Johnson had a public falling out in 2017, starting with an Instagram post by Tyrese after the release date for Fast & Furious 9 was delayed until April 2020. On the same day, a spin-off movie featuring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham was announced, slated for release in 2019. The next month, Tyrese said he would leave Fast 9 if Dwayne Johnson was still involved.
Tyrese recently discussed the long-standing conflict with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, telling Van Lathan on the The Red Pill podcast that he still hasn’t spoken to Johnson directly, though he hopes to. He did mention having a conversation with one of Johnson’s producing partners, but not with Johnson himself.
Tyrese admitted he shouldn’t have publicly shared frustrations on behalf of others connected to the franchise, saying it was unprofessional and a mistake he takes responsibility for. He explained he was the only one who spoke out, and that was his own fault.

No more bad blood here.
Taylor Swift and Katy Perry were famously feuding for years, with some believing the conflict inspired Swift’s song “Bad Blood.” The disagreement, which supposedly began over a dancer and rivalry during concert tours, ended when Perry sent Swift an olive branch as a peace offering before Swift’s Reputation Tour began.
Taylor shared on Instagram that she found a real olive branch in her dressing room, saying it meant a lot to her.
Taylor captioned the video, “Thank you Katy.”

For years, Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker, stars of Sex and the City, successfully dismissed rumors of a disagreement. However, those rumors resurfaced when Kim chose not to participate in a third movie and subsequently made some pointed remarks about her co-star.
During a September 2017 episode of Watch What Happens Live, Andy Cohen asked Sarah Jessica Parker how she felt about Kim Cattrall’s statement to Piers Morgan that they had only been coworkers, not friends.
She was deeply upset, saying she felt heartbroken about something. They had discussed it earlier in the week, and she explained that she found the situation really disturbing because her memory of what happened was completely different.
It’s definitely sad, but I believe what really connected us was sharing that unique experience. It started as a professional collaboration, but over the years, it became something deeply personal. I’m hoping that the strong bond we formed through years of working on something special and meaningful will outweigh any recent disagreements. It was a privilege to be a part of something people connected with so strongly.
And though they didn’t film scenes together, Kim did make a small appearance on And Just Like That.

Elton John and Madonna have been publicly disagreeing since 2004. The conflict began when Elton, while accepting an award, criticized Madonna’s live performances. He famously said that her being called the best live act was ridiculous, questioning how lip-syncing could be considered a live performance, and even suggested performers who lip-sync should face serious consequences, given the cost of concert tickets.

The conflict really escalated when Cardi B noticed Nicki Minaj had supposedly reacted to a tweet criticizing Cardi’s parenting, though Nicki claims she didn’t actually engage with it.
Cardi B explained she turned down a potentially hugely profitable Bruno Mars tour because she wanted to be with her daughter. She emphasized how much she loves her daughter and considers herself a great mom. Just before the Grammys in February 2025, Kanye West began following only Taylor Swift on Instagram. He didn’t offer any explanation for this action, and Taylor Swift didn’t publicly acknowledge it.

“I don’t know her.”
As a longtime fan, I remember when all the talk about a rivalry between Mariah and Jennifer Lopez really began. It was back in 2003, during a TV interview in Germany. Mariah was asked about a bunch of singers, and when Jennifer’s name came up, she just said she didn’t know her. It seemed so simple at the time, but it really kicked off years of speculation about a feud!
