Eiichiro Oda’s popular manga series, One Piece, began in 1997 and continues to captivate readers today. The story follows a young pirate’s quest to become the Pirate King, and while he’s come a long way, Luffy still needs to reach Laugh Tale to begin a new, massive adventure. The manga entered its final storyline in 2022, which is predicted to be the longest yet, given the current pace of the narrative. Over a hundred chapters have already been released, but the central conflict of the Elbaph Arc is only just starting.
The story is broken down into 11 main parts, called sagas. Each saga includes one or more arcs to make the plot easier to follow. Each saga offers a distinct adventure and explores a range of feelings. Here’s a ranking of all the sagas, not including the current, unfinished saga, so it’s considered alongside the others.
10) Thriller Bark Saga

This is the shortest story arc in the series, and it’s also one of the funniest. It’s where the Straw Hats meet Brook, the musician Luffy always wanted on the crew. But the most memorable moment is definitely when Zoro risked everything to protect Luffy, famously claiming ‘Nothing Happened’ afterward.
9) Fish-Man Island Saga

Okay, so the Fish-Man Island arc is a huge part of the story – it’s where we finally see the Straw Hats back together after their two-year training! It kicks off their adventure into the New World. Honestly, I think it gets way more hate than it deserves. It really expands on the world’s lore, and there are some genuinely fascinating moments and reveals that I think people overlook.
8) Sky Island Saga

The Sky Island Saga, though relatively short with just two story arcs, is incredibly captivating. It takes place in a unique world high above the ocean and features Enel, a truly memorable villain who is still popular with fans. Skypiea is full of secrets and reveals important details about the distant past, specifically the mysterious Void Century.
7) East Blue Saga

The first 100 chapters of One Piece, known as the East Blue Saga, perfectly introduce the series and immediately captured audiences. While it doesn’t delve deeply into the show’s overall mysteries, this saga is packed with memorable scenes like Zoro’s fight with Mihawk and Luffy’s journey to Arlong Park. It’s a fantastic foundation for everything that follows.
6) Whole Cake Island Saga

This storyline, spanning three arcs and 107 chapters, features Luffy’s initial direct battle with a Yonko. It heavily focuses on Sanji’s journey, making it particularly memorable for his fans. The main drawback is that only part of the crew gets significant screen time, as Zoro and the rest were occupied with the Wano arc.
5) Summit War Saga

Even after over 100 chapters, the Summit War Saga remains the most memorable part of the story. Packed with both incredibly sad and thrilling scenes – like the deaths of Ace and Whitebeard, and Shanks’ surprising intervention – it’s a truly unforgettable arc.
4) Alabasta Saga

As a huge One Piece fan, I genuinely think the Alabasta Saga is one of the absolute best! Spread across 117 chapters and five arcs, it’s where we meet so many characters I adore – like Tony Tony Chopper, Nico Robin, Vivi, Ace, and Bon Clay, just to name a few. It’s packed with incredible battles, but what really hooked me was how it started to reveal the bigger mysteries of the world, especially with the introduction of the Poneglyphs and hints about the long-lost Void Century. It’s a truly special part of the story!
3) Water 7 Saga

Over four major story arcs and 139 chapters, the narrative explores Robin’s heartbreaking history and exposes the extreme cruelty of the World Government. After reaching Water 7, the Straw Hat crew faced numerous challenges, the most devastating being Robin’s vanishing. She seemingly gave her life to protect her friends, but Luffy and the others refused to let the World Government take her without a fight.
2) Dressrosa Saga

The Dressrosa arc, spanning 148 chapters, closely follows the length of the Wano arc and provides a deeper look into the villainous actions of Donquixote Doflamingo. This arc also showcases the strong partnership between Trafalgar Law and Luffy as they team up to defeat Doflamingo before moving on to Wano.
1) Wano Country Saga

This story arc spans 149 chapters and is packed with unforgettable scenes. It features some of the series’ best world-building and action sequences, including Luffy’s incredible Gear 5 transformation. More than just a display of power, this arc is the result of Luffy’s long journey and explores the show’s most important ideas.
