The Xenomorph is naturally equipped for killing, with a bladed tail, rows of teeth, a second inner jaw that strikes quickly, and sharp claws – plus it’s incredibly agile. The Yautja, or Predator, is just as dangerous, but relies more on the weapons it carries. They are a hunter race who prioritize the hunt above all else, and have a vast collection of tools to help them. While strong on their own, the Predator’s weapons – including technology like cloaking devices – are what truly make them deadly. Today, we’ll be taking a look at the most fearsome weapons in their arsenal, including some featured in Predator: Badlands, which is currently streaming on Hulu and Disney+.
We’re focusing only on the weapons seen in the Predator movies, not those from the games. For example, the Blazer – a powerful shoulder-mounted beam weapon – appears only in the AvP: Extinction video game, as do weapons like the Fireliner, Pred-Gun, Killscreen Generator, and Electroshock Missile Battery.
7) Plasma Bow

In the game Predator: Badlands, Dek has a favorite weapon: the Plasma Bow. It works much like a regular bow and arrow – you pull back the string and fire. But instead of shooting an arrow, it launches a blast of plasma.
The best thing about the Plasma Bow is that you never need to reload ammunition – you can fire continuously. However, despite using plasma, it still functions like a traditional bow and arrow, meaning you have to take time to pull it back and aim. This can be a problem when you’re facing a quickly approaching enemy.
6) Combistick

As a big fan of the Predator films, I’ve always been fascinated by the Combistick. It’s such a clever weapon! Basically, it’s incredibly versatile. Up close, it’s a brutal, bladed club, perfect for quick, devastating attacks. But what really sets it apart is its range – the Predator can throw it like a spear with enough force to pierce just about anything. It’s appeared in a bunch of the movies – Predator 2, the Alien vs. Predator films, Prey, and Predator: Killer of Killers – and it’s always a highlight seeing it in action.
Ultimately, it’s still just a spear. Yes, it’s a highly advanced piece of alien technology, but it’s fundamentally a spear, and that limits its overall significance.
5) Shuriken

The Smart Disc paved the way for the Shuriken, which is basically a bigger version with long, sharp teeth around the edges.
The Shuriken, a primarily long-distance weapon featured in both Alien vs. Predator films and The Predator, includes a built-in tracking device. While the Smart Disc also had this feature, the Shuriken’s longer blades made it significantly more dangerous. Its main downside was that it could be difficult to remove from a wall, but this isn’t a major issue for the physically powerful Yautja.
4) Netgun

The Netgun, featured in Predator 2, Alien vs. Predator, and Prey, is arguably the most creative weapon. It also ranks highly when considering sheer power.
If this fast-moving net catches you, there’s no escape. It will quickly wrap around you and tighten until it cuts you apart. It first immobilizes you, then completely destroys you.
3) Plasma Sword

The Plasma Sword is incredibly powerful, cutting through any material effortlessly – whether it’s living tissue, brick, walls, or even alien creatures. Unlike a traditional blade, the sword itself isn’t easily damaged; while the Kalisk did manage to chip the tip, the weapon remained largely intact due to being made of plasma.
Ultimately, a Yautja’s skill with this weapon is what matters most. And Dek, despite being young, is exceptionally talented with it. He’s capable of defeating even a massive, self-healing monster – at least until the monster regenerates.
2) Plasmacaster

We definitely had to include this iconic weapon. Besides its claws, the Jungle Predator from the 1987 film famously used the Plasmacaster.
It’s easy to see why this was his preferred weapon – it could easily penetrate even heavily muscled targets. This powerful, shoulder-fired weapon has a long range and a rapid firing rate. It’s a favorite among the Yautja, appearing in multiple films including Predator 2, Predators, The Predator, and Prey.
1) The Self-Destruct Device

This weapon is by far the most powerful one the Yautja possess, but it’s really only used as a final option.
When the Predator begins entering the self-destruct code, it acknowledges its own impending death. However, its opponent is also certain to perish. Although Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character escapes, the resulting explosion is massive – large enough to devastate the surrounding jungle.
As a huge Predator fan, I’m always curious what everyone else thinks! So, I have to ask – what’s your absolute favorite Yautja weapon? Let me know in the comments, and come chat about it with other fans over on the ComicBook Forum – the discussion’s already started!
