Update #2 [Tue 24th Feb 2026, 8am]:
After confirming the closure of Bluepoint, Sony has resumed posting on social media after a brief, three-day pause.
The company shared a promotional post for their upcoming strategy game, Revival: Recolonization, which launches later this week. It seems they were required by contract to do so.
Although a few responses mention the game itself, most of the discussion centers around Hermen Hulst, the head of PS Studios. Many fans blame him for recent problems with PlayStation’s exclusive games, and several are calling for his removal.
PlayStation is normally very engaged on social media, but they’ve been quiet lately, likely due to recent negative news. We expect it will take some time before things return to normal, but this recent activity seems like a start.
As expected, Sony hasn’t shared anything on its main social media channels in over three days since Bluepoint shut down.
Although some local PlayStation accounts, such as the one in the UK, continued posting as usual over the weekend, the main PlayStation social media account hasn’t said anything since the news about Bluepoint Games closing was announced.
Honestly, when that news dropped, the reaction from fans was intense. People were really going after the company, and it even spilled over – they started hitting out at completely unrelated games, like Marathon, which the platform holder is trying to hype up before it launches on March 5th. It was a bit crazy to see.
It will be interesting to see when operations restart and if the recent quiet period has helped to ease tensions.
We expect a lot of unhappy reactions from fans when the account starts posting again, even after this short break.
Sony has stopped posting on social media after the recent upsetting news about Bluepoint.
Right after the news came out about the Demon’s Souls remake developer, a planned post for Marathon appeared on all of PlayStation’s social media accounts.
The post was probably scheduled ahead of time, but it went live at a really bad moment, causing a huge, angry reaction from fans in the comments.
This post, made about a day ago, has received nearly 2,000 replies on X (formerly Twitter), and they’re overwhelmingly negative.
It’s not posted on any of its accounts since.
“Dumb ass company,” one of the tamer replies reads.
“You should close down Bungie and keep Bluepoint frankly,” a common sentiment adds.
It’s a shame the Marathon team is caught up in this situation, especially since they were recently making good progress.
Regardless of what you think about Bungie, the recent closure of Bluepoint Games isn’t really their fault. The only argument against that would be if you believe Sony’s $3 billion purchase of the studio ultimately caused this, but that seems unlikely.
Sony will likely remain silent for now. It’s probable they’ll pause all scheduled social media posts until at least Monday, hoping the situation will calm down by then.
We believe it’s good when fans share their opinions, but we’re disappointed by the amount of negativity and hostility. Unfortunately, this kind of strong reaction isn’t new for PlayStation; we’ve faced similar situations before.
