For the most part, Pokemon Go has fallen into a predictable pattern over the years, with each new season bringing fresh events, Pokemon appearances, and raid battles. However, as the game approaches its 10th anniversary, Niantic is making significant changes to keep things interesting. Recent additions like remote trading have improved the experience, and the Go Tour event introduced a new level of Mega Raids. Now, the upcoming Memories in Motion season promises another wave of changes for Pokemon Go players.
The new season of Pokémon Go starts March 3rd at 10 AM local time. It’s called “Memories in Motion,” and Niantic has just shared details about what to expect. The updates sound promising and could be a welcome change for players! “Memories in Motion” will bring changes to Pokémon Go events, introduce a new feature called “Daily Discovery,” and increase the chances of finding Shiny Pokémon in some cases.
Pokemon Go Events Are Changing with the Memories in Motion Season

Okay, so Niantic is shaking things up in Pokemon Go with the new Memories in Motion season starting March 3rd. It sounds like these changes aren’t just for this season, but will stick around for good! They’re saying events will happen on a more consistent schedule – I’m guessing this has a lot to do with the new weekly Daily Discoveries thing, but who knows what else they’ve got planned. The big news for me is weekend events are always going to be on Saturdays now, which is awesome! And finally, they’re adding an in-game calendar, so we can actually keep track of everything that’s coming up. No more missing out on events because I forgot when they were!
The biggest change coming to Pokémon Go is that events will no longer require paid tickets for event GO Passes. Lately, many events have offered GO Passes with both free and paid options, much like the regular monthly GO Pass. It seems Niantic is shifting away from this system. This could be great for players who don’t want to spend money, but we’ll have to see how it actually works in practice.
What Are Daily Discoveries? New Pokemon Go Experience Debuts March 3rd

This season introduces Daily Discoveries, a new feature that offers a unique experience for players each day. These daily events will be available from midnight to 11:59 PM local time and will change weekly, each providing different bonuses.
- Sundays: Double-Time Sunday – increased duration for incense and lures
- Mondays
- Fast-Track Monday – Double GO Points for all Pass Tasks on monthly and event GO Passes
- Max Monday – Power Spots refresh more often, with more active Power Spots in general.
- Tuesdays: Showcase Tuesday – Up to 20 different categories of PokeStop showcases will be active
- Wednesdays: Raid Hour – Raid Hours from 6 PM to 7 PM local time, with bosses rotating on a weekly basis
- Thursdays: GO Battle Thursday – Up to 4x Stardust for victory rewards, plus an increased daily cap from 10 to 50 battles
- Fridays: Friendship Friday – Chance for up to 2 Special Trades, and an increased Lucky Chance trade for all trades. The cost of Trades will also be reduced by 10%, with 2 Guaranteed Candy XL. None of these bonuses will apply to Remote Trades, sadly.
This new update to Pokemon Go has the potential to be really engaging for players. It will be interesting to see how it plays out over the coming weeks.
Pokemon Go Introduces Increased Shiny Odds for Raids and Eggs

Okay, so I’m really excited about the new season! They’re tweaking the odds of finding Shiny Pokémon, which is awesome. It looks like it’ll be easier to get them in Raids and when you hatch eggs. I’m not sure if this is just for the season or if it’s a permanent thing, and honestly, I’m dying to know exactly how much better the chances are going to be!
Now, Shadow Pokémon saved from Team GO Rocket can potentially be Shiny versions, but only if that Pokémon is already available as a Shiny. You’ll also have a better chance of finding Shiny Pokémon when battling Team GO Rocket leaders and Giovanni.
The new season will feature significant updates, including a fresh GO Pass, themed stickers, and changes to the Pokémon available through Research Breakthroughs and Eggs. You can find complete information about the upcoming “Memories in Motion” season on Niantic’s official blog.
