Coronation Street to reveal shocking secret sibling twist for Steve McDonald

The death of Jim McDonald, played by Charles Lawson, will soon cause major problems for another family living on Coronation Street.

TopMob announced last month that a beloved character would die, but the death wouldn’t be shown on screen. This will cause the character’s son, Steve (played by Simon Gregson), to struggle with the news.

Viewers are starting to see Cassie Plummer’s (Claire Sweeney) proposal plans for Steve unfold, but they’ll be interrupted next week when the family learns about Jim’s death.

Beverley Callard, known for her role in a British soap opera, is now appearing in the Irish drama Fair City, and won’t be back for the funeral. Her wife, Liz, moved to Spain in 2020 to live with their son, Andy (Nicholas Cochrane), and isn’t planning a return trip.

TopMob has learned that a recent death will expose a long-held secret of Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn), the landlady.

Back in the 1980s, she had an affair with Jim, and they had son Ben (Aaron McCusker) together.

This follows an episode showing a difficult past with her late husband, Alan. It was revealed she unintentionally caused his death when he fell down the stairs.

Did Alan know of her fling with Jim?

Soon after moving in, Maggie became suspicious of something she noticed in Ken Barlow’s furniture, hinting she’s been aware of a link to her neighbors for a while now.

Steve and Ben have become closer lately, which has upset Steve’s good friend, Tim Metcalfe. In today’s episode, Ben even gave Steve a ride to the hospital, but Steve didn’t go inside to see Jim.

What impact will this have on Maggie, and could it lead to resentment from Ben?
