Netflix’s New Stranger Things Series Officially Casts Lore-Changing Character Addition After Speculation

Netflix is revisiting the world of Hawkins with a new animated series called Stranger Things: Tales from ’85, which will feature a brand new character.

After ten seasons, Stranger Things has concluded with a dramatic, though somewhat controversial, final season. However, the story isn’t over! A new series, Tales from ’85, will revisit the world of Hawkins and its beloved characters. It will explore new dangers, introduce fresh faces, and reveal what some familiar characters were doing between the seasons we already know.

Collider announced that Odessa A’zion, known for her role in Marty Supreme, will be joining the cast as Nikki Baxter, a character who will significantly impact the show’s story. According to showrunner Eric Robles, Nikki is a 14-year-old new student who has moved from the East Coast – and many other places before that. She’s a kind and loyal friend, and isn’t afraid to use her strong build and punk style to stand up to anyone who tries to bully her. The animated series is set to premiere on April 23, and character posters have been released to build excitement for the upcoming launch.

We brought in Nikki Baxter to introduce new viewers to the amazing world of Stranger Things. She joins the story in Hawkins at a key time – after the government conspiracies, secrets, and monsters that plagued the town for two seasons have temporarily subsided. This gives Nikki a unique viewpoint, changing how things work and how characters see the world. Even more importantly, she brings a whole new wave of threats and monsters to Hawkins, dangers that are unlike anything the kids have dealt with before.

The show features Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, Luca Diaz as Mike, Elisha “EJ” Williams as Lucas, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Benjamin Plessala as Will, Brett Gipson as Hopper, and Jeremy Jordan as Steve. Joining them are Janeane Garofalo and Lou Diamond Phillips. Matt and Ross Duffer, the creators of Stranger Things, are executive producers through their production company, Upside Down Pictures.

Now that the final season of Stranger Things has sparked a lot of debate online, it’s a good time to revisit the characters we love and remember what initially made the show so captivating, focusing on the town of Hawkins.

Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 will premiere on Netflix on April 23.
