Since James Gunn became head of DC Studios and announced a fresh start for the DC Universe – including a new Superman and a separate Batman from Robert Pattinson’s – fans have been eagerly speculating about who will play the Caped Crusader. For years, discussions have swirled around potential actors for the upcoming film, The Brave and the Bold, with names like Alan Ritchson, Jensen Ackles, and Brandon Sklenar frequently mentioned as possibilities.
Fans are now suggesting Paul Anthony Kelly, known for his role in Love Story and currently playing JFK Jr. on FX, as a potential Batman. Many believe his striking appearance, particularly his strong jawline, makes him a good fit for both the masked hero and the public persona of Bruce Wayne. When asked about the online buzz regarding him playing Batman in the DC Universe, Kelly jokingly responded that he wouldn’t object if fans wanted to see it happen.
Paul Anthony Kelly Breaks Silence on Batman Fancasting

Kelly admitted that playing Batman would be a dream for him. Besides his appearance, his age also makes him a strong contender in the eyes of fans hoping to see him cast in the role within the DC Universe.
Currently, Michael Kelly, who will play Batman, is 37 years old, five years older than David Corenswet, the actor playing Superman. This age difference actually fits well with the plans for the upcoming film, The Brave and the Bold. That movie will feature an already established Batman and will introduce the wider Bat-Family in a new way. Since Batman will have a 10-year-old son, Damian Wayne, in the film, it makes sense that he’s been Batman for at least a decade, and therefore a bit older than Superman.
One reason Joel Kelly could be a great Batman in the new DC Universe is that he’s relatively unknown as an actor. He started as a model and landed the role of JFK Jr. without any prior acting experience. This means most audiences haven’t seen enough of his work to form a strong impression of his acting style. Similar to how David Corenswet was cast as Superman – with audiences knowing him primarily from smaller roles in films like Pearl and Twisters – Kelly could step into the role of Batman without viewers already having a fixed idea of who he is as a performer.
The biggest challenge for Kelly becoming Batman is that DC Studios isn’t currently looking to cast the role. While there have been hints about a new Batman in the DC Universe – including a cameo in Creature Commandos – Robert Pattinson will remain the only Batman in movies for the foreseeable future. By the time casting begins, Kelly might already be committed to other projects, or a different actor could become the frontrunner.
