Shared universes are a cornerstone of superhero comics. This allows heroes like Batman and Superman to have their own cities and teams, but also come together for massive threats, like the Justice League. While Marvel and DC are famous for this expansive storytelling, another publisher is now building its own universe of heroes and has just announced three new comic book titles.
Summit Comics, a new independent comic book publisher, launched its shared superhero universe, the Summit Universe, last fall with the title ‘Summit: Pinnacle.’ Following the successful funding of that initial project, they’re expanding their lineup. ComicBook is excited to exclusively reveal three new titles joining the Summit Universe: ‘Wayfarer,’ ‘Cobalt Cricket,’ and ‘Trench: Hollywood Monsters.’
Summit’s Next Peak Is All About Classic Fun, Cosmic Adventures, and Hollywood With a Monster Twist

This spring, Summit is releasing three new comics with diverse characters and stories, promising to add even more excitement to their expanding universe. One of these is The Cobalt Cricket, created by Sebastian Piccione. It’s a love letter to classic comics and cartoons, starring Glenn Fielding, a relatable hero who battles famous villains in Karl’s Bay, Florida. The artwork is by Elias “Gambit” Melendez.
I’m really excited about The Cobalt Cricket! It’s inspired by all those classic eras of comics – the Silver and Bronze Ages, even the vibrant ‘80s. It’s about recapturing that sense of fun, those bright colors, and those slightly silly, imaginative ideas. I want to bring that feeling back! The Cobalt Cricket isn’t some powerful superhero; he’s a regular guy – Glenn Fielding – dealing with everyday struggles like paying for college, keeping up with his grades, working a job, and just trying to navigate life with his friends. He’s doing the best he can with what he’s got, and that’s what makes him relatable.
This April, Summit Publishing launches Wayfarer, a new sci-fi comic. The story follows a father who is abducted by aliens and stranded far from home. He embarks on a perilous journey across the galaxy to find his family, becoming a legend along the way. The first issue will be the start of a four-part series.

Writer Nate Schachter describes his comic, Wayfarer, as a true passion project. He explains that the four-issue series is grand in scope, prioritizing character development and emotional impact. Schachter praises artist Stan Yak for creating stunning visuals that perfectly capture the epic, science fiction story, and highlights the contributions of colorist Diego Souza and letterer Adam Barnhardt. He shares that creating this comic – and introducing a new hero to the Summit Universe – has been a lifelong dream.

Okay, so rounding out this whole connected universe of stories, we’re getting another dose of Trench! If you’re a fan, you’ll be happy to hear he’s back in Trench: Hollywood Monsters this summer. Apparently, what happened on A-Day – which they’re diving into in Summit: Pinnacle #1 – wakes him up, and this time, he’s setting his sights on Hollywood. It sounds wild, and I’m definitely intrigued to see what kind of chaos he’ll cause!
Devin Arscott announced that the character Trench is returning, this time in a story set in Hollywood. Trench will be taking on a powerful, secretive group called the Cult of Dagon in a brand new solo comic book series.
