It’s been a while since Lara Croft’s last adventure, and a lot has changed. Most notably, Amazon now publishes the games.

Okay, so the new Tomb Raider is kind of a fresh start for the series, picking up after the last game from 2008. It takes Lara on an adventure to Northern India, and honestly, they’ve even redesigned her and gotten a new voice actress! It feels like a really new take on the character I love.

Tomb Raider Catalyst gameplay and story details

Tomb Raider Catalyst is a new installment in the Tomb Raider series, taking place several years after the story of Tomb Raider Underworld.

The official website for the game states that in Catalyst, Lara Croft begins a new journey through Northern India.

The story takes place after a legendary disaster that revealed long-hidden secrets and stirred the powerful, enigmatic forces protecting them.

Lara must race to the location before other treasure hunters, and prevent anyone from misusing the power she finds. The story then focuses on her difficult choices – deciding who she can trust among both competitors and supposed allies – to avoid disaster and safeguard a secret with potentially world-altering consequences.

It all sounds very Tomb Raider.

Get ready to explore a mysterious world where you’ll discover hidden secrets, solve challenging puzzles, battle enemies, and explore ancient tombs.

Built with the powerful Unreal Engine 5, Catalyst promises stunning and detailed visuals that will bring the beauty of Northern India to life.

So, it’s official – Alix Wilton Regan is the voice of Lara Croft in Rise of the Tomb Raider (that’s what ‘Catalyst’ was!) and the remake of the original game, Legacy of Atlantis. I recognized her voice right away – she’s done amazing work on games like Assassin’s Creed Origins, Mass Effect 3, and even the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty expansion!
