G.I. Joe’s New Game Is A Franchise Fan’s Dream (And It Arrives Next Month)

The G.I. Joe franchise is currently doing well with its action figures (G.I. Joe Classified) and comic books (from Skybound), but movies and video games have been inconsistent. While there have been some successes, G.I. Joe hasn’t yet become firmly established in those areas. There’s hope for the future, however, as two different movie reboots are being considered, and a new G.I. Joe game, which looks promising for fans, is about to be released.

Get ready to build your ultimate G.I. Joe and Cobra forces! Renegade Game Studios is releasing G.I. Joe Heroscape on March 16, 2026, with four initial sets. If you want a complete game in one box, the G.I. Joe Heroscape: Rumble at the Rift Battle Box includes classic characters like Cobra Commander, Scarlett, and Snake Eyes. But the real fun of Heroscape is creating custom armies and battles, and this new collection offers plenty of opportunities to do just that. You can learn more here.

G.I. Joe Heroscape Lets Fans Create Your Dream Battle, And It Will Only Get More Epic From Here

If you haven’t played it before, Heroscape is a strategy game with collectible miniatures. What makes it special is its customizable battlefield – you build the playing area using hexagonal tiles that easily snap together. These tiles are really durable and come in different types, like grass, water, and even toxic waste, so you can design unique battlefields however you like.

I’m so excited about the new G.I. Joe Heroscape line! The main set, called Rumble at the Rift Battle Box, has everything you need to start playing. It comes with 8 awesome miniatures – Duke, Scarlett, Roadblock, and Snake Eyes are fighting for the Joes, and on the Cobra side you’ve got Cobra Commander, Destro, Storm Shadow, and Doctor Mindbender. And if you pre-order, you even get Serpentor thrown in! It’s going to be epic.

Every character possesses special skills they can use in battle. For example, Snake Eyes can sneak past enemies to eliminate lone targets with his Phantom Walk ability, while Scarlett can throw off the enemy’s strategy (Now You Know) and follow up with powerful attacks (Lethal to the Bone). Duke excels at inspiring his team (YO JOE) and coordinating effective assaults (Lead by Example). Cobra Commander is a skilled fighter at close range (Cutlassss) and can quickly retreat from battle (I’ll Get You Next Time). Doctor Mindbender can control other units (A Little Suggestion) and even turn the enemy’s own forces against them (Bend Mind).

The Rumble at the Rift Battle Box comes with everything you need to play, including a scenario guide, 2 Cobra wall sections, dice, markers, glyphs, glyph cards, and 29 other terrain pieces. It will be available for $65.00.

To expand your forces, you can get the Cobra Troopers and Cobra Flight Pod Expansion. This pack adds a four-person squad and a hero unit to pilot the Cobra Flight Pod, a vehicle that attacks enemies with air-to-ground missiles. The Cobra Troopers and Cobra Flight Pod Common Army Expansion will cost $50.00.

If you’re playing as the Joes, consider adding the Greenshirts and Battle Copter Common Army Expansion. It includes a four-person squad and a hero who can pilot the Battle Copter. This unit is a great match for the Cobra Flight Pod and the miniature sculpts are really well-made. The Greenshirts and Battle Copter Common Army expansion will cost $50.00.

The latest addition to the first wave of figures is the Strike Forces Army Expansion, and it includes popular characters from both the Cobra and G.I. Joe teams. This set features Baroness, Lady Jaye, the Crimson Twins, and Jinx and Kamakura. Baroness excels at commanding multiple Cobra or Agent Heroes (as an Intelligence Chief), while Lady Jaye is skilled at outsmarting opponents (using her Motorized Zipline).

Jinx and Kamakura can take turns immediately after other ninjas (using the “Learn from the Master” ability), and The Crimson Twins function as a single unit with a shared health pool and can add defeated enemies to their Cobra team (using the “Bankroll” ability). The Strike Forces Army expansion is available for $50.00.

Heroscape is a really enjoyable and creative game, and it’s becoming even more exciting with the new addition of G.I. Joe characters!
