Jujutsu Kaisen: Yuji Reunites With a Friend Who Shares The Same Fate As Him

Please be aware that this article contains spoilers for the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga. A sequel to the original Jujutsu Kaisen, titled Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, began appearing in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in September 2025. Written by Gege Akutami and illustrated by Yuji Iwasaki, it quickly became popular with fans, building on the success of the original series. The story is set 68 years after the Culling Game and follows a new cast of characters as they face challenges and new dangers in the world of Jujutsu. It also reveals what happened to Yuji Itadori, the original series’ protagonist, who stopped aging after consuming the Death Paintings.

I watched as Yuji was forced to make a terrible deal – consuming others to gain the strength needed to confront Sukuna. But the cost was devastating. While he fought, time seemed to stop for him, and everyone he cared about aged and passed away. The grief was immense, especially after Hana Kurusu’s death, and he completely withdrew from his friends, disappearing for a long time. He reappeared during the final battle, but instead of fighting, he surprisingly allied with Maru, working to bring peace between humans, Simurians, and even cursed spirits. Now that his purpose seems fulfilled, he’s searching for an old friend in Chapter 24, someone who, like him, is burdened by the same heartbreaking reality.

Yuji Reunites With Panda in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 24

With the release of a special epilogue alongside the final volume of Jujutsu Kaisen in December 2024, fans learned what happened to Panda. Panda, a cursed corpse created by Masamichi Yaga, was a second-year student at Jujutsu High during the series’ main events. After the Culling Game in 2018, he began losing control of his functions. By 2035, he had completely ceased activity and was placed in storage by the Gojo family.

Panda ended up being treated like a cursed object and was passed on to Yuta Okkotsu, a close friend and representative of the Gojo Clan. Yuta had become the acting head of the clan after his teacher, who was originally meant to take the position, passed away. Years later, in 2080, Yuta’s grandchildren discovered a storage room filled with his belongings, including Panda, revealing that Panda was considered one of Yuta’s most prized possessions.

Panda has lost all of his abilities, and although he still has occasional movement, it’s not enough to sustain his previous life. Unlike Yuji, who has centuries left to explore, Panda is unable to age and has been essentially put into storage. In the latest chapter, after saying goodbye to Maru, Yuji immediately goes to find Panda, who instantly recognizes him. The reason for this meeting will probably be explained in the next installment.
