WWE 2K26: WWE Superstars Reveal Their Future 2K Showcase Matches (And One Cover Star Is Long Overdue)

CM Punk is returning to the WWE 2K video game series with WWE 2K26, marking his first cover appearance since WWE 13. He was playable in WWE 2K25, but this year he’s both on the cover and featured in a special 2K Showcase mode highlighting his career. While Punk deserves the spotlight, many other WWE Superstars are equally deserving of cover star status and their own Showcase modes. ComicBook recently spoke with several wrestlers to find out which matches they’d include in their dream showcases, and one combination, in particular, has been a long time coming.

Trish Stratus is a true WWE icon and continues to impress with her performances whenever she wrestles. We asked her to pick three matches for a 2K Showcase, and many fans agree it’s time for her to be featured on the cover of the game – it’s been far too long!

Trish Stratus and her fans both think it’s time for a special event. She explained, ‘It would be great to have a showcase, especially with the 25th anniversary coming up.’ Her fans, who she affectionately calls ‘Stratuspherians,’ have been asking the same question: ‘Why haven’t we had one yet?’ And she agrees – it’s a good point.

Okay, so we’re definitely doing the historic Trish versus Lita match as the main event on Raw. And we’ll also revisit the Mickie James versus Trish Stratus match from WrestleMania 22. Let’s throw in something really wild – how about a match with Trish and Triple H against The Rock and Lita? Does anyone remember that main event? It was back when we used to do intergender matches, which, as you can see, we’re doing again now.

Tiffany Stratton recently shared her dream match lineup, and Trish Stratus made the list! Stratton hopes to include her NXT No Mercy match against Becky Lynch, her WrestleMania match against Charlotte Flair, and a potential Evolution match against Trish Stratus. It’s a truly impressive set of desired opponents.

Jacob Fatu Goes Bloodline, and It’s Triple Threat For The Ruler

Jacob Fatu, also known as the Samoan Werewolf, recently talked about some first-time experiences in his WWE career. He mentioned his first match inside the Elimination Chamber, as well as his first time traveling outside of the United States for a WWE event – Money in the Bank in Canada. He also highlighted his first WarGames match, which also took place in Canada, and expressed his appreciation for the Canadian fans.

Fatu said it would likely come down to him and Solo, definitely him and his brother. He described them as two young guys from Northern California, wrestling in a main event at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, and believes those three would be the final contenders.

We recently interviewed Oba Femi, a quickly rising star in WWE. He’s new to Monday Night Raw and the Royal Rumble, but even early in his career, he’s already had some standout matches that would be great for a special event.

For Oba Femi’s best matches, I’d choose his one-on-one fights against Je’Von Evans. Honestly, any of his matches are good, but I was known for putting on amazing Triple Threat matches too. So, I’d pick any match featuring Je’Von, or any Triple Threat match he was in.

Chelsea Green Brings Back A Favorite, and Iyo Sky Picks An Unexpected Legend

Chelsea Green is coming off a fantastic 2025, and 2026 is shaping up to be even bigger for the two-time Women’s United States Champion. As the face of the WWE 2K cover, she’s already planned three matches for the game’s showcase, including one dream match now made possible by a new match type in WWE 2K26.

Green confirmed he’ll be participating in the dumpster match, a new addition to the game this year, and expressed his excitement about facing Michin in the championship match while sporting custom gear featuring his face. He also mentioned potentially including a classic tag team match with either Piper or Sonya Deville, leaning into a nostalgic theme.

Iyo Sky recently shared some dream matches she’d love to have, including some surprising opponents. She expressed a desire to both team with and compete against Rey Mysterio in an intergender match, and also wants to face Lita, envisioning a thrilling moonsault-versus-moonsault showdown. Sky also mentioned The Undertaker as someone she’d like to wrestle.

A match between Iyo Sky and The Undertaker is a wild idea, but a match between Iyo Sky and Rey Mysterio is both exciting and realistic – that’s the one fans really want to see happen quickly.

Blake Monroe Wants To Destroy NXT Superstar, and Bayley Brings Back An All-Time Moment

Blake Monroe is a rising star in NXT, having already won a championship. She’s aiming for even more success, but currently faces two main rivals. In her ideal match, she’d love the chance to defeat both of them in a Triple Threat match.

My career has been amazing, but professional wrestling is full of highs and lows. I’m envisioning a steel cage match against Thea Hale and Jaida Parker – I want to be the one on top. I saw a clip of Liv Morgan doing a move where she flies out of the ring, and I want to do something similar with Thea. Actually, let’s make it a three-person match with Jaida Parker as well. I don’t plan on leaving the cage myself, but I want them to, and that would be a defining moment for my character.

Bayley, a former champion and widely popular wrestler, was next. Given her impressive career, it’s fitting she’s chosen some truly memorable matches to highlight, including a standout performance from her time in NXT.

Bayley highlighted a few matches that stand out to her. She mentioned her first Women’s Championship match against Sasha Banks at NXT in Brooklyn, and the Last Woman Standing match between herself and Bianca Belair in Saudi Arabia, calling it a very special bout. Finally, she pointed to the WrestleMania Los Angeles match featuring DAMAGE CTRL (Bayley, Iyo, and Dakota) against the team of Lita, Trish Stratus, and Becky Lynch.

Drew McIntyre Thinks WWE 2K Skipped His Cover Star Year, and Tyler Breeze Reveals One-Time Only Match For Showcase

Drew McIntyre, the current WWE Champion, is currently a leading figure on SmackDown, and he’s openly critical of CM Punk. However, he was surprisingly upbeat when discussing WWE 2K26. He joked that the year the game wasn’t released was likely when he would have been on the cover. While he hasn’t been featured yet, McIntyre remains optimistic, saying, “That’s the story of my life. We’ll get there eventually, because we always do, it just takes a long time.”

I’ve already got three matches in mind that really stand out. There are so many great options, like matches with Roman Reigns and Sheamus – the fans loved those, even though they were frustrating for me. Then there’s the Royal Rumble in 2020. That event was a turning point for me – eliminating Brock Lesnar and winning the Rumble led to wrestling and defeating him in the WrestleMania main event.

For the showcase mode, I envision an empty arena to reflect the unique and historically significant moment when I won the championship. It was an incredible accomplishment, not just for me personally, but globally. The Three Stages of Hell match where I overcame the odds to win was a defining moment – I defeated both Cody and Jacob on the same night.

Tyler Breeze is particularly excited about a match in Brooklyn featuring a legendary wrestler. He explained that facing Jushin ‘Liger’ is a rare opportunity, as it marks Liger’s only match in the United States and Breeze’s only match against him. Fans often ask Breeze about this match due to its unique and somewhat unexpected nature, making it a standout moment for him.

You can play through CM Punk’s custom showcase when WWE 2K26 releases on March 13th.
