Fans of Doctor Who enjoyed a short special episode featuring the Fifth Doctor (Peter Davison) and Tegan (Janet Fielding) last December, and now it’s been announced that another one is on the way.
Destination: Daleks was created to coincide with the Blu-ray release of Doctor Who: Season 21 Collection. In the story, the Doctor and his companion receive an urgent message for help from a former ally, Turlough (played by Mark Strickson).
Turlough last appeared in the 1984 story ‘Planet of Fire.’ He chose to return to his home planet, Trion, leaving the Doctor and Tegan, though Trion had since been invaded by the Daleks.
The latest short episode left viewers on the edge of their seats, with the main characters captured by the Daleks. According to writer Pete McTighe, who also penned ‘The War Between the Land and the Sea’, we won’t have to wait long to discover what happens next.

I had a general idea of where the story could go, but I didn’t have the funds to produce it myself. So, I contacted my friend Marcus Hearn at Doctor Who Magazine and asked if he’d be interested in turning it into a comic strip. Luckily, he agreed.
McTighe announced that Doctor Who Magazine will soon release a special supplement that continues the story and reveals what happens on the planet Trion.
As a big Doctor Who fan, I was thrilled to hear about the potential for a live-action sequel to ‘The Evil of the Daleks’! It was fun to see Peter Davison at the BFI event too, and he playfully wouldn’t dismiss the idea of ‘Destination: Daleks’ getting the same treatment – which definitely got everyone talking!
He joked that he was excited about the Dalek comic strip, hoping it would attract the attention of a Hollywood studio. He predicted that, if all went well, we might see a movie based on the story when he was in his late 80s.

The new Blu-ray release of Doctor Who Season 21 features the ‘Destination: Daleks’ short film, plus a lot of exciting extra content.
Several classic Doctor Who stories have been enhanced with updated special effects, including The Awakening, Frontios, Resurrection of the Daleks, and The Caves of Androzani. Warriors of the Deep has received a complete Special Edition makeover, featuring a new four-part edit, completely new visual effects, and 5.1 surround sound. The Awakening and The Caves of Androzani have also been upgraded with new surround sound mixes.
This release also features bonus content like making-of documentaries for “Resurrection of the Daleks” and “The Twin Dilemma,” a brand new audio commentary for “The Awakening,” and a special conversation with Janet Fielding, Mark Strickson, and Matthew Waterhouse, led by Matthew Sweet.
I’m so excited for the return of some classic features like Behind the Sofa, and they’re even adding a new Doctor Who Escape Room! There’s also going to be a fun look back with Peter Davison and Janet Fielding on ‘Look Who’s Boating,’ and more adventures with Janet in ’48 Hours with Fielding.’ They’re revisiting a fan favourite story, ‘Earthshock,’ with a fresh edit called ‘Tales of the TARDIS,’ and bringing back ‘The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot’ with brand new commentary. Plus, they’re including loads of extra content like HD photos, detailed information, archived PDFs, and some selected extras from old DVDs – it’s a Doctor Who fan’s dream!
A Doctor Who companion recently revisited the place where they left the show, filming a short, touching scene.
The Doctor Who: The Collection: Season 21 box set will be released on March 16, 2026, and you can pre-order it today.
