Mikayla Nogueira is sounding off on the way she speaks.

The beauty influencer addressed claims she fakes her Boston accent in her videos, and admitted there’s some truth to the accusations.

She addressed a question about her accent in a TikTok video posted on March 2nd, confirming that she does have one and also admits to sometimes emphasizing it in her videos.

The performer, originally from Freetown, Massachusetts, explained that her way of speaking—without pronouncing the ‘r’ sound—is a homage to her home state and a reflection of her father’s strong accent.

“I am a Masshole through and through,” she declared. “I will probably die here.”

Mikayla, 27, mentioned that people have always commented on her voice, which eventually sparked her passion for the beauty industry, where she now works.

She explained that she started wearing makeup because she was being bullied for her voice – something that still happens today. People constantly told her she looked and sounded like a man, and she worried that would prevent her from ever finding love. This really damaged her self-confidence, so makeup became a source of comfort and ultimately, her chosen career path.

Mikayla recently announced that she and Cody Hawken are divorcing after being married for two years.

She shared in a February Instagram video that she’d been working through a difficult time for months, involving a lot of tears, conversations with loved ones, and therapy. She said she finally reached a point where she felt ready to share her experience and begin to heal.

Mikayla is usually very open in her videos, but she wants to keep the reasons for her breakup private. She explained, ‘Only Cody and I know why we decided to split up.’
