Bungo Stray Dogs is a popular action series with supernatural elements, created by Kafka Asagiri and Sango Harukawa. It first appeared in Young Ace magazine in 2012. Four years later, in 2016, Studio Bones adapted it into an anime that quickly became well-known worldwide. The series has run for five seasons over the last ten years, and while a sixth season hasn’t been officially confirmed, a hint at the end of the latest episode suggests it’s likely to happen. An official announcement about its return is still awaited.
With fans eagerly anticipating the next season of the anime, the manga has kept the story going, and things have been getting increasingly dramatic. The series is full of heartbreaking moments and exciting, high-pressure fights. Chapter 129 was released in February 2026 and surprised readers with the announcement that the first part of the story was ending. The first part concluded with Chapter 130, leaving many wondering when the anime will return. While a second part of the manga is planned, no details have been revealed yet. According to @MangaMoguraRE, a trusted source, the manga will be paused for an undetermined amount of time.
Bungo Stray Dogs Is An Acclaimed Supernatural Show

The story follows Atsushi Nakajima, an 18-year-old orphan who is suddenly kicked out of the orphanage with no explanation. Homeless and with nowhere to turn, he’s close to starving when he attempts to steal money to survive. Instead, he ends up saving Osamu Dazai, a man trying to end his own life. Atsushi then meets Doppo Kunikida, Dazai’s partner, and discovers they work for a special Detective Agency that investigates cases involving people with extraordinary abilities. Their current case involves tracking a dangerous weretiger, and Atsushi soon realizes he’s connected to it in some way.
After the three of them uncover each other’s secrets, Atsushi learns about his hidden powers and begins working for the Armed Detective Agency as one of the newest recruits. Having been shunned by others all his life, he finds his calling as he protects his town, Yokohama, from the threat of powerful gifted people. The story continues his journey as he finally finds a place to belong, and he fits right in with his eccentric colleagues.
The anime series reached the end of the manga’s story during its fifth season, meaning there was no more source material to adapt into new episodes. You can watch all seasons of the anime now on Crunchyroll. The manga consists of 27 volumes, all officially translated into English and available for purchase from Yen Press. Volume 28 will be released in Japan on March 26th, but an English release date hasn’t been announced yet.
