Chappell Roan’s “C–ty” Faux Bob Is Hot to Go at Paris Fashion Week

Chappell Roan is a femininomenon when it comes to style.

Singer Mabel, known for her song “Good Luck, Babe!”, recently surprised fans at Paris Fashion Week with a seemingly new, shorter hairstyle. At the Acne Studios show on March 4th, she styled her long, red hair in a way that made it appear as though she’d cut it into a bob.

She styled her hair in a sharp, modern cut and wore a gray-blue turtleneck dress. The dress had a fitted corset top and an uneven, asymmetrical skirt. It was sleeveless and covered in delicate lace, and she finished the look with matching gloves and heeled stockings.

And Chappell’s hairstylist didn’t hold back when describing the vibe of the 28-year-old’s ‘do.

“Bonjour!” Lacy Redway wrote on Instagram. “From Paris with a c–ty faux bob on my girl.”

Chappell has considered a shorter hairstyle before. Remember her music video for “The Subway”? She had long hair while chasing an ex in New York City, but cut it into a bob at the end to show she was over the relationship.

Although Chappell revealed last year during the photoshoot that the short hairstyle was a wig, she later shared on Instagram how much she now wants to cut her hair into a bob.

Hair is a significant part of Chappell’s identity. She’s shared that her bright red hair is a way of embodying her stage personality, almost like a form of performance art.

In a 2024 interview with Paper magazine, she explained that she’s simply embracing her childhood self. She described her public image as an attempt to fully express the person she felt she couldn’t be when she was younger.

Indeed, the natural brunette felt stifled by conventions growing up in Missouri.

She remembered being very protective of her hair. In a December interview with Canadian music journalist Nardwuar, she said she used to think, ‘There’s no way I’d ever dye it – it’s too risky!’

Chappell added, “And then one day, I was like, ‘F–k it.'”
