It’s heartbreaking to watch Todd Grimshaw struggle. He’s been put in such a terrible position, forced to go against everything he believes in and, honestly, betray the memory of his wonderful friend, Billy. It’s just awful to see him hurting like this, especially knowing how much Billy meant to him.
As fans may remember, Billy died in the special Emmerdale and Coronation Street episode, ‘Corriedale,’ after being involved in a serious car crash.
Even though Todd could have gotten out of the burning car, his abusive boyfriend, Theo Silverton, deliberately re-buckled his seatbelt, trapping him inside.
In the aftermath, Theo binned his photo from the sideboard, consumed with guilt over his actions.
Todd was devastated by the loss, especially because he had just told Billy about the abuse he was suffering at home shortly before he died. He’d hoped to finally escape the situation, but things have only gotten worse since he’s gone.

Today on the show, Todd admitted he’s worried about getting Theo a birthday gift. Theo manages his money very carefully – he doesn’t use credit cards and even playfully suggested a simple savings account would be enough.
On one occasion, he even left him for an entire weekend with just £10.
After a bit of convincing, Theo gave Todd £200, explaining it needed to cover both a gift and their birthday dinner. He then spotted Billy’s cufflinks on the living room bookshelf and wondered if Todd was starting to collect memorabilia.
Todd rushed them out of the house, but was upset to discover his phone service had been disconnected due to an unpaid bill. Having no other money available, he had no choice but to use the cash Theo had given him.

When Theo got home, he asked Todd why he hadn’t answered his calls. Todd claimed he’d left his phone in the car while shopping, but that wasn’t true. It quickly became clear that Todd was in a difficult situation and would have to do something drastic to get Theo a gift.
Okay, so there’s this scene where Billy’s daughter, Summer, is proudly showing off a t-shirt she got him, which is sweet, right? But meanwhile, I’m noticing Todd is being super shady, trying to hide a receipt. Turns out, he pawned Billy’s cufflinks! It’s a really tense moment, because you immediately know something’s up and it’s a huge betrayal.
Will Theo and Summer discover the truth?
