Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, recently shared some intriguing updates regarding the ongoing adventures of Moon Knight and Eternals within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). After the earth-shattering events of “Avengers: Endgame,” Phase 4 of the MCU introduced a host of crucial new heroes, including Marc Spector (better known as Moon Knight), who made his debut on Disney+ in March 2022, and the Eternals, an ancient team of cosmic immortals whose arrival was felt on the big screen in November 2021. Although their stories have concluded for now, there’s a strong indication that more tales are waiting to be told about these heroes. However, specific details about their future exploits have been sparse in recent news reports.
In Season 3 of “What If…?”, both Moon Knight and the Eternals made their animated debuts, but as of now, their live-action counterparts haven’t resurfaced in the Multiverse Saga. In May 2025, Moon Knight’s creator Jeremy Slater hinted at the character’s absence, suggesting that fans should discuss his return with Kevin Feige, as he mentioned the “ball is in their court.” On the other hand, a report from The Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez suggested that the Eternals will reappear in the upcoming saga. Before the next MCU crossover event, “Avengers: Doomsday”, Feige gave an encouraging update regarding Moon Knight and the Eternals’ future roles.
In a conversation about diversity, Kevin Feige, head of Marvel Studios, revealed that characters such as Moon Knight and the Eternals, who were introduced after “Avengers: Endgame”, will reappear in some of the upcoming films and beyond. He emphasized that this is similar to the excitement of comics, where any character can show up anywhere.
While I can’t confirm if they are among those you mentioned, it’s true that characters we’ve introduced after ‘Endgame’ will reappear in some future movies. Just as in the comics, characters can show up anywhere.
Although Feige remains somewhat cryptic regarding their reappearance, his recent confirmation that these characters will return fuels optimism, suggesting that the narratives of Moon Knight and the Eternals may have more chapters to tell in the future.
In the blockbuster film “Avengers: Doomsday“, the cast of characters is so extensive that it leaves little opportunity for each character to shine individually. However, there’s a possibility that they might show up in upcoming events such as “Avengers: Secret Wars” or the series following the multiverse-oriented stories.
In the storyline of “Moon Knight,” created by Jeremy Slater for Disney+, we follow the life of Marc Spector, a character with dissociative identity disorder who is chosen to serve as the embodiment of the Moon god, Khonshu. This intriguing series features Oscar Isaac, Ethan Hawke, May Calamawy, and F. Murray Abraham in prominent roles. The premiere date was set for March 30, 2022 on Disney+.
Under the guidance of director Chloé Zhao, the film titled Eternals centers around a group of immortal characters, crafted by the Celestial named Arishem, who has covertly safeguarded Earth from the threat of Deviants for centuries. This Phase 4 production boasts an impressive ensemble headed by Angelina Jolie, Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Lauren Ridloff, Kumail Nanjiani, and Bryan Tyree Henry. The theatrical release of Eternals took place on November 5, 2021.
When Moon Knight & Eternals Might Show Up? (Theory)
It’s uncertain if Moon Knight and the Eternals will reappear in the upcoming two Avengers films. Previously, Lauren Ridloff (the actress who plays Makkari) mentioned that she is “unlikely” to return in Avengers: Doomsday, implying that the Eternals might not be involved in the confrontation against Doctor Doom. Similarly, there’s no news yet about Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight returning for the next appearance of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes on the big screen.
It was planned for some members of the Eternals to feature in an episode of Moon Knight. This was confirmed by creator Jeremy Slater, who mentioned that approximately 3 or 4 Eternals would have been involved in a major action scene involving one of Khonshu’s Avatars. However, due to budget constraints, this idea had to be abandoned.
I put in a great effort to include the Eternals in the series, mainly because I’m friends with Kumail Nanjiani… I was keen on having some Kingo. At one stage, there was a flashback scene drafted that hinted at one of Khonshu’s Avatars interacting with Ammit being imprisoned, Alexander the Great, and other events from ancient Egypt. This Avatar worked together with the Eternals in a fascinating sequence, but unfortunately, it was extremely costly to replicate Ancient Egypt and introduce 3-4 Eternals for this large-scale action scene.
There might be a collaboration between these teams in the future, possibly even happening now. This could take place in a potential second season of Moon Knight or a follow-up to Eternals.
In other news, it was suggested before that a “Midnight Sons” movie might be under development, as Marvel has brought on a new writer to write the script. This potentially means that Moon Knight could make his next appearance, given that he is part of the team in the comic books.
Regarding the Eternals, although its poor box office performance suggests a sequel is uncertain, it’s possible that the team or some members may appear alongside established heroes in future projects to wrap up their story. Additionally, with reports indicating that the Marvel Cinematic Universe will delve deeper into the cosmic aspects of the universe in the next phase, there’s a strong likelihood we’ll see more of the Eternals.
