The story of Alien vs. Predator started in 1989 with a popular comic book series from Dark Horse Comics. Since then, the combination of these two famous movie monsters has expanded into more comics, novels, films, and video games. The first game, Alien vs. Predator, came out on the Super Nintendo in 1993, and there have been 14 major releases in the series since then. We’ve played through them all to pick the best five, ranking them based on how critics reviewed them when they first came out, how popular they were, and how enjoyable they are to play.
5) Alien vs Predator (1994)

The arcade game Alien vs. Predator came out shortly after the SNES version, but the two games are very different. This arcade title is a beat ‘em up where players choose from four characters – two Predators (Warrior and Hunter), and two cyborgs: Maj. Dutch Schaefer (based on Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character from Predator) and Lt. Linn Kurosawa. Each character has unique moves and powers, and this arcade game proved to be much more successful than the SNES version.
4) Aliens vs. Predator (2010)

In 2010, Sega released a new Aliens vs. Predator game, a first-person shooter for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It was generally well-received by both critics and fans. The game’s story centers around a team of U.S. Colonial Marines battling Xenomorphs that have escaped from a Weyland-Yutani research facility within a Predator pyramid. Players can experience the conflict from three perspectives – human, Xenomorph, and Predator – with each faction having its own campaign that contributes to a larger, unified storyline. Praised for its immersive atmosphere and gameplay, this is the most recent game in the series we’ll be discussing.
3) Aliens Versus Predator (1999)

As a big fan of the Aliens Versus Predator franchise, I really enjoyed this game! It lets you play through the story from three different sides – as the Xenomorphs, the Yautja (Predators), and the Colonial Marines. Each campaign has you completing different objectives, and the levels really capture the creepy, intense atmosphere of the movies. The story itself is pretty involved and ties everything together nicely. Plus, they added even more content the following year with an expansion pack – nine new single-player campaigns, new multiplayer levels, and a bunch of new weapons! When it first came out, everyone loved it – they said it was both genuinely scary and a lot of fun to play. It was so popular, it even led to a sequel a couple of years later!
2) Aliens Versus Predator 2 (2001)

The developers of Aliens Versus Predator 2 really delivered on the promise of a good sequel – they took everything that made the first game fun and made it even better. The game takes place on the planet LV-1201, overrun with Xenomorphs, and features a clan of Yautja (the Predators) who are also exploring the area. Players can enjoy both single-player and multiplayer modes, and the single-player campaign is unique because you can play as one of three different characters, each with their own skills and storyline. Despite being a well-received game, a follow-up sequel was never made.
1) Alien vs Predator (1994)

In the early 1990s, many games came out, but Alien vs Predator on the Atari Jaguar stood out as the best. It was the system’s most popular title, selling very well and receiving positive reviews. Originally planned for the Atari Lynx, the game was redesigned as a first-person shooter for the Jaguar, where it became a major success. Players could choose to play as the Yautja (Predators), Xenomorphs, or Colonial Marines across a series of connected levels. While the Jaguar wasn’t a widely popular console, Alien vs Predator is a fantastic entry in the Alien vs Predator series that often gets overlooked.
