Everyone enjoys a good laugh, and sitcoms are a perfect way to get one. That’s why so many of the most beloved TV shows, like I Love Lucy, Friends, Seinfeld, and even newer hits like Abbott Elementary, are comedies. There’s something comforting about getting invested in funny, relatable characters and enjoying their stories, especially now with streaming services allowing us to watch entire seasons at once. Sadly, one of the best comedy shows of the last twenty years is leaving Netflix soon, so fans don’t have much time left to watch it.
I’m really bummed to hear that Arrested Development is leaving Netflix on March 15th! All 84 episodes, across all five seasons, will be gone. It’s a bit of a strange situation with this show, because it’s had such a unique history. It originally aired on Fox back in 2003, and I loved it then! Then Netflix revived it in 2013 with a fourth season, which was great, and they even released a fifth season in two parts, in 2018 and 2019. Because it’s still so popular, I’m hoping it finds a new home on another streaming service soon – or maybe even comes back to Netflix eventually. I’d really like that!
Arrested Development Is One of the Greatest Sitcoms Ever Made (But Fans Are Divided About the Netflix Seasons)

Considered one of the greatest sitcoms ever, Arrested Development stands out for its surprisingly complex and layered storytelling. While each episode is consistently funny and easy to enjoy, the show subtly builds upon itself, with some jokes only fully landing after repeated viewings—sometimes even across multiple seasons. This makes it a show that appeals to both casual and dedicated viewers, and truly raises the bar for the sitcom format. The series also has a heartwarming quality, centered around the eccentric Bluth family, who are forced to cope with a dramatically changed lifestyle when their father goes to prison, and their son Michael tries to keep them all together. The characters are wonderfully strange and over-the-top, yet surprisingly relatable, reflecting the dynamics found in many families.
As a huge fan, I’ve always loved Arrested Development, and while the whole show is brilliant, the Netflix seasons are a bit… divisive. Season 4, in particular, gets a lot of flak – and honestly, I agree it didn’t quite capture the magic of the first three seasons, where everyone really felt like part of a tight-knit family. The way they jumped around in time was also a little messy and confusing. Thankfully, Season 5 felt more like the Arrested Development I remembered. But even with those bumps, it’s still a comedy classic, and you should definitely check it out before it leaves Netflix at the end of the month!
What Else Is Leaving Netflix This Month?
Netflix is losing some popular titles in March, including the TV show Arrested Development, the classic film The Sandlot (leaving March 13th), and Titanic (leaving March 16th). But it’s not all bad news! The Jurassic World films arrived on March 1st, and more new content is being added throughout the month. You can find a complete list of what’s new here.
