Marvel fans are eagerly anticipating the next big Avengers movie, but while we wait, Marvel Comics just announced a new Avengers team in a story called Avengers: Armageddon. The lineup of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes has changed a lot over time in comics, movies, and even the recent LEGO Marvel Avengers: Strange Tails series on Disney+.
Now, it’s time to meet the new team in Avengers: Armageddon, which includes both familiar faces and some surprising new members.
This five-part comic book story follows Thaddeus Ross, also known as Red Hulk, as he tries to take over the country of Latveria after the events of ‘One World Under Doom’.
Every Member of Avengers: Armageddon’s 2026 Avengers Roster
Iron Man

Following Doom’s defeat in One World Under Doom, people around the world have become wary of superheroes. They hold the Avengers responsible for destroying the perfect society they once hoped for. Now, Iron Man and his teammates must work to rebuild trust, but it won’t be a simple task.
Considering Iron Man’s skill in handling difficult situations and his role as a leader of the Avengers, he’s the logical choice to confront Red Hulk’s worldwide destruction.
Captain America

In the story One World Under Doom, Captain America (Sam Wilson) took a big gamble by teaming up with a group of villains. He did this to lure Doctor Doom away from his border, proving he’s a hero willing to make difficult decisions and potentially disagree with his fellow Avengers to get the job done.
In the high-stakes battle of Avengers: Armageddon, the Avengers are facing a desperate situation. Sam Wilson, known for making tough decisions, will need to determine exactly which heroes are essential to defeat Red Hulk. Considering his past collaboration with villains, he might even consider bringing them on board – though that could seriously hurt the Avengers’ reputation.
Wolverine

In Avengers: Armageddon, Wolverine joins the Avengers as a temporary member and represents the X-Men. His inclusion makes sense because he’s one of the few heroes capable of fighting on equal ground with Red Hulk.
Marvel’s new comic, Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon #1, leads directly into the story of Avengers: Armageddon. It introduces Tyler, a missing mutant who develops powers similar to Wolverine’s, but with the added ability to create adamantium armor around his body.
Tyler’s arrival has significant consequences for the Weapon X program. Red Hulk might use him to create a diversion, drawing Wolverine and the Avengers’ attention away from his plans to take over the world.
Spider-Man

Spider-Man is a vital part of any Avengers team, and his appearance hints at a future confrontation between him and the Hulk, potentially in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie.
As a huge Spider-Man fan, I’m really excited about the potential role he’ll play in Armageddon. It sounds like Peter Parker might be the one to help rebuild public trust in heroes after everything that happened with Doctor Doom. It’s a big responsibility, but I think Spidey’s up for it!
Invisible Woman

After the events of One World Under Doom, Doctor Doom left Reed Richards a final message: his last will and testament. This document essentially names Reed as the rightful heir to lead Latveria, rather than the Red Hulk.
Although Reed Richards isn’t a major player with the Avengers, his wife, Sue Storm (the Invisible Woman), often takes a leading role in fights. This might be because her powers naturally lend themselves to combat strategy.
I heard Sue might be joining the Avengers to help with whatever’s coming, while Reed tries to calm down Red Hulk back at the lab. It sounds like they’re splitting up to handle things!
Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel is a powerful member of the Avengers, so it’s natural she’d be among the heroes trying to stop the Red Hulk when he goes on a destructive spree.
Carol Danvers is a natural leader with a strong sense of right and wrong, making her perfectly suited to guide the team through this challenging and unique conflict.
Vision

Having been a key member of the Avengers for a long time, Vision is expected to play a critical role in the upcoming battle with Red Hulk. His unique abilities – including controlling his density, projecting energy, and possessing a brilliant mind – make him well-equipped to handle Red Hulk’s powerful, rage-fueled attacks.
Bonus: Red Hulk

At the conclusion of One World Under Doom, Doctor Doom died to save Valeria Richards, which means he’s missing when Avengers: Armageddon begins.
With Doctor Doom seemingly gone, a power struggle began in Latveria. Thunderbolt Ross, as the Red Hulk, seized this opportunity, brutally eliminating anyone who stood in his way. Unless Doom somehow returns, the Red Hulk appears to be the primary threat in the coming Armageddon, forcing Earth’s heroes to unite and prepare for battle.

When he took over Doctor Doom’s country, it triggered a massive worldwide conflict, pushing the Avengers to reunite and restore order.
The Red Hulk is causing massive destruction worldwide, and it will take Earth’s greatest heroes – including the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and Wolverine – to stop him. But will anyone survive the battle? This event will fundamentally change the Marvel Universe forever. Don’t miss this incredible, world-altering story!
Chip Zdarsky, along with artists Frank Alpizar and Delio Diaz, created the new Marvel Comics series, which comes out on June 3rd.
