Peaky Blinders star breaks silence on major character absence from The Immortal Man film: “It’s something you don’t see on TV”

The announcement of the cast for ‘Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man‘ revealed some key original actors were missing, but the most noticeable absence was Paul Anderson, who played Arthur Shelby.

Anderson portrayed Arthur throughout the show’s six seasons and is one of just three actors featured in every single episode, alongside Cillian Murphy and Sophie Rundle. Both Murphy and Rundle are also reprising their roles in the movie.

I was really curious about why Wes Anderson hadn’t been talking about The Immortal Man, but he finally explained it to LADbible. He actually thinks the film is amazing! He admitted he was a little hesitant going in, but he ended up loving it, which is fantastic to hear.

He responded to not being in the film by saying there wasn’t much he could do about it and that he decided to let the filmmakers continue without him. He feels good about the final product, acknowledging that his character hadn’t been particularly kind to others in the show, but that audiences still enjoyed him.

I was so excited to hear how they brought my favorite character into the movie – I don’t want to give anything away, but it was really cool! The actor who played him said it was a bold move, and honestly, I agree. You just don’t see stuff like that happen on TV very often, and it really made an impact.

Anderson briefly mentioned the next installment of the show, explaining it will take place in the future and center around a new group of characters in the Peaky Blinders world.

Anderson mentioned the show is likely to continue for two more seasons. However, it’s unclear whether the future will focus on a younger cast or a completely new group of characters within the Peaky Blinders world, though Tommy Shelby is expected to remain involved.
