To celebrate the end of an era and ahead of the season 15 finale, Call the Midwife has released a special video on its social media pages that revisits the show’s journey.
This special feature offers a look back at the show, with clips from both old and new episodes. It also includes behind-the-scenes moments and interviews with cast members like Helen George, Stephen McGann, Zephryn Taitte, Rebecca Gethings, Christopher Harper, Laura Main, Max MacMillan, Jenny Agutter, and Annabelle Apsion.
As a fan, it’s amazing to hear George talk about the show. He really believes it was a one-of-a-kind series – something that will never be replicated. What’s even more incredible is the real-world impact it’s had! He mentioned it’s boosted support for charities and actually led to more people training to become midwives. To me, it feels like the show really held up a mirror to the NHS, and most importantly, it’s brought so many families closer together.
You know, talking to Colin McGann, it really struck me how much ground his work covered. He emphasized that they weren’t just telling a story, but documenting a really significant period in his country’s history, and more importantly, exploring what it means to be part of a community over a decade and a half. It felt like a genuine deep dive into the heart of a place and its people.

To celebrate the final episode of season fifteen, a special extended video was released featuring the cast reflecting on the past fifteen years of Call the Midwife and what the show means to them and its viewers.
In the season 15 finale, Sister Veronica faces a difficult decision about her future as the maternity home is set to shut down. Meanwhile, the Mullucks continue their fight to secure justice for those affected by thalidomide.
After this season ends, the main show will pause, but fans can still look forward to a movie and a new series that explores the show’s backstory.

The upcoming prequel will consist of three episodes and be set during the Blitz. The feature film will follow the events of the current season, taking place in the Commonwealth in 1972.
Heidi Thomas, the show’s creator, has mentioned Australia as a likely filming location, but says there are three possible places they’re considering.
Call the Midwife season 15 continues on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Sunday at 8pm.
