Avatar: The Last Airbender Creator Confirms New Movie Is Finished: “It’s Done, It’s Awesome”

I’m so excited to share some amazing news for all Avatar: The Last Airbender fans! One of the creators just confirmed that the Legend of Aang sequel movie is officially finished! It feels incredible that Avatar is coming back in such a big way – not only with another season of the live-action show on Netflix, but with a completely new animated movie too. The original creators, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, are back with Avatar Studios, and this movie is their first project – a brand new story showing what happened with Aang and the gang as adults. I can’t wait!

The live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender is now expected to premiere on Paramount+ this fall, after plans for a theatrical release were changed. The series’ co-creator recently shared an update with fans, confirming that filming has finished. He described the movie as “awesome” and asked for patience as they prepare to release more information soon.

The Legend of Aang Movie Is Finished

I’m so excited – production on The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender is officially finished! Director Lauren Montgomery and the whole team have confirmed it, and even better, they’ve already seen the finished film! This is fantastic news because it means we won’t have to wait much longer for a first look – things like updated character designs for Aang and his friends, stills from the movie, and other promotional goodies should be coming soon. I can’t wait to see everything!

Originally planned for a theatrical release this October after some postponements, The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender will now premiere exclusively on Paramount+ this fall. While a specific date hasn’t been announced, with filming complete, it’s possible we’ll see the movie sooner than expected. Because it’s no longer tied to Paramount’s movie theater schedule, it has more flexibility in when it can be released.
