Just a heads up – this article contains spoilers for the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga! I watched as the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga wrapped up after six months. It was written by Gege Akutami and illustrated by Yuji Iwasaki, and it started in September 2025 – a year after the original Jujutsu Kaisen story ended. The manga focused on new characters, taking place 68 years in the future. It was announced as a short, six-month sequel, planned to be no more than three volumes long, and it actually followed that schedule perfectly. What really surprised and excited fans, including me, was how the series blended in science fiction, introducing an alien race called the Simurians who arrived in Japan as refugees. It quickly became popular all over the world.
The story primarily explores the difficulties of humans and Simurians living together, but also shows what happens to fan-favorite characters from the first story. It begins with the death of Yuta Okkotsu, who passed away after losing his wife, Maki Zenin. The narrative then follows his children, revealing the sad fate of Yuji Itadori, what became of Nobara Kugisaki, and the stories of other original characters. Throughout the series, Megumi Fushiguro isn’t mentioned at all, and even in the finale, his fate is only confirmed briefly without further explanation.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo‘s Finale Confirms Megumi Fushiguro Is Dead

The story doesn’t explain what happened to Megumi after the main events, but Nobara briefly mentions him at the end. Once everything is peaceful, Yuji talks to Nobara about his future plans. They decide to work together again to improve the world, especially since no new sorcerers will be born. But right after making these plans, Nobara sadly points out that Megumi is gone.
It’s really hitting me hard – the way everyone talks about Megumi makes it seem like he’s actually gone. We still don’t know how it happened, which is just awful. What’s even stranger is that Yuji, one of Megumi’s best friends, hasn’t even said his name! Nobara’s been quiet about it too. Considering they were the main three in the original series, it’s so weird that Megumi barely gets a mention in the new story. It’s like they’re avoiding the topic, and it’s just… unsettling.
The sequel didn’t reveal anything about the character’s history, leaving many questions unanswered. The story ends with a significant cliffhanger, suggesting there might be more to come—perhaps an epilogue or another sequel—that could finally explain Megumi’s past, but for now, everything remains uncertain.
