Every new Resident Evil game is a big event, and fans are always wondering what Capcom will do next. According to reliable leaker Dusk Golem, the next major release will likely be a remake of Resident Evil: Code – Veronica, potentially launching in early 2027. Additionally, there are reports that DLC is planned for Resident Evil: Requiem, and it might feature Leon S. Kennedy as a playable character.
Rumors suggest that Resident Evil 10 is currently being made, potentially releasing around 2029. However, that timeline depends on development going smoothly, and it could be delayed to 2031 or later – as is common in game development.
Capcom has acknowledged discussions about a remake of the original Resident Evil, stating it’s been considered but is still in early planning stages. While a remake is possible in the future, they emphasize it’s too soon to confirm any details. If development proceeds smoothly, it’s currently estimated to be released in four to seven years.
It’s worth noting that Capcom previously considered a co-op, open-world design for Resident Evil Requiem before ultimately deciding on a single-player experience. According to Dusk Golem, the development team has cancelled several projects in the last five years, including Resident Evil Revelations 3 (which was said to feature Rebecca Chambers), a game centered around Wesker, continued support for Re:Verse, and even a game starring HUNK.
They emphasized that predicting future plans is uncertain, like relying on a fortune teller, and that some things are already decided. This doesn’t include the expected release of Resident Evil Zero Remake in 2028, or reports that a remake of Resident Evil 5 isn’t planned. It’s likely that a Capcom meeting scheduled for next year, after Code – Veronica Remake launches, will be used to discuss even more potential remake projects.

The currently unnamed project (working title ‘RE10’) is under development and tentatively scheduled for release in 2029, though delays are possible, potentially pushing the release to 2031 depending on development progress. While it’s possible we’ll see this eventually, it’s far too soon to say for sure. Even if development went perfectly, it would still be four to seven years away. It’s also common for games to get cancelled – for example, Resident Evil recently scrapped plans for a HUNK game and a Revelations 3.
