An actor has revealed that a Marvel character who hasn’t been seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a while is making a comeback. Over the years, many heroes and villains have been introduced in the MCU, but some have simply vanished without explanation. While some, like Abomination and The Leader, have unexpectedly reappeared after many years, others—including Shang-Chi and the characters from The Eternals—haven’t been seen for a long time and fans are eager to see them return.
Mike Colter, the actor who played Luke Cage, recently hinted at a return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. During an interview on the Inside of You podcast with Michael Rosenbaum, Colter revealed he’s been talking with Marvel about bringing Luke Cage back, and believes it’s likely to happen, potentially as part of the Daredevil: Born Again series. He expressed openness to exploring new directions for the character, saying he’s willing to consider ideas different from his previous portrayal.
Mike Colter’s Luke Cage Could Have a Huge MCU Future

As a huge fan, I was so glad to see Luke Cage end his Netflix run as the protector of Harlem – basically, he became the neighborhood’s sheriff! There was some worry he might go down a dark path with that power, but thankfully, that didn’t happen. Honestly, I always thought he should have ended up facing off against Wilson Fisk, especially now that Fisk is the Mayor and is cracking down on all the vigilantes. And with Jessica Jones coming back, it feels like only a matter of time before we see Luke Cage join the fight again – I’m really hoping so!
The upcoming Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again has a lot of potential storylines, but the comics offer a particularly strong path. In the source material, Wilson Fisk became mayor and faced opposition from Luke Cage, who transitioned from crime-fighting to running for office himself. A compelling conclusion for the series could see a vigilante like Cage become mayor, expose Fisk’s corruption, and dismantle his network of illicit police officers by prosecuting them.
As a critic, I’m really hoping the MCU explores the dynamic between Luke Cage and Jessica Jones that we never quite got in the Netflix series. Look, neither of these heroes needs a romantic partner, but their comic book relationship was genuinely fantastic. What I loved was how real it felt – they faced actual problems, but it never diminished their individual strengths as heroes. Even adding a child to the mix didn’t derail their character arcs, it just made them more compelling! Now that Mike Colter has hinted at Luke Cage returning to the MCU, I’m seeing a ton of potential for some truly exciting storylines down the road.
