Prime Video’s latest action movie is causing a big debate! Critics haven’t been impressed, giving it a score of just 30%, but audiences clearly disagree, awarding it an 82% rating – a difference of 52%. It seems the audience is on the right track, as the film has quickly climbed to the #4 spot on the Top 10 Most Watched list. The movie stars Kerry Washington, Omar Sy, and Mark Strong.
Prime Video’s new action thriller, Shadow Force, follows Kyrah and Isaac, former leaders of an elite international special forces team. They broke team rules by falling in love and have been living in hiding to protect their son. Now, their past is catching up to them – the Shadow Force is hunting them down, and a hefty reward has been offered for their capture, forcing them to fight for their lives.
It’s a Fun, Tropey Action Thriller
Reviewers have criticized Shadow Force for being overly reliant on clichés and predictable action, and for not fully exploring the emotional potential of the story. One critic gave it a 2 out of 5-star rating, noting a weak script, questionable casting choices, and a mishandled romance. However, despite these criticisms, the movie has proven popular with audiences, who seem to enjoy the very tropes that critics dislike. Many viewers appreciate these familiar elements as a core part of what makes action movies enjoyable and successful.
Okay, so I just finished Shadow Force on Prime Video, and honestly, I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed it! Someone online nailed it when they said ‘the family that slays together, stays together’ – it’s a perfect description. It’s packed with action, but what really worked was the sweet love story woven throughout. Kerry Washington is just fantastic – she truly delivers in everything she does. And it was so good to see Omar Sy! Their chemistry was amazing, which is rare these days. I genuinely found myself rooting for them throughout the whole, incredibly tense story. I’m seriously hoping they turn this into a series – I’d definitely watch!
