The Great Pottery Throw Down ended on a heartwarming note tonight, with the three remaining potters competing for the final time at the Gladstone Pottery Museum, all hoping to be named the winner.
Throughout the competition, the potters have faced a variety of difficult tasks. They’ve been challenged to create everything from simple bricks and bookends to more complex pieces like puzzle judges and animal sculptures.
It was so hard watching the judges, Keith and Rich, decide between Angharad, Elham, and Fynn in the final! They had to create tiny model theatres, and then there was a really difficult throwing challenge thrown in as a last surprise. I felt for them all – it was a tough ask!
When the competition ended, Fynn, a 37-year-old from Cornwall, was announced as the winner of The Great Pottery Throw Down 2026.
Fynn initially explored pottery as a short course during his illustration studies, but he only started pursuing it as a serious hobby about two years ago.

Fynn was completely shocked and thrilled to learn he’d won the show. He explained that he wouldn’t have even entered if it weren’t for the encouragement of some friends who were there with him.
I’ve realized I’m more capable than I initially believed, and with effort, I can make progress. It’s going to take a while to fully understand everything, but right now, I’m just feeling overwhelmed and don’t really have anything else to add.
Judge Keith announced Fynn as the winner, praising his incredible attention to detail and ability to accurately observe and recreate textures and surfaces in clay. He said Fynn’s skills spoke for themselves, making him a truly deserving winner.
Judge Rich praised Fynn’s consistent performance throughout the competition. He explained that while skills can be taught and improved, Fynn possesses a natural talent. Rich highlighted that Fynn’s final piece was exceptional, clearly demonstrating his abilities, creativity, and the personal connection he brings to his work.
