Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo has concluded after just six months. The series was designed as a short sequel to Jujutsu Kaisen, intended to be only six volumes long. Jujutsu Kaisen was Gege Akutami’s first serialized manga, and it became incredibly popular worldwide, establishing Akutami as a well-known manga artist. The original manga finished in September 2024, with a four-part epilogue that hinted at potential future stories. Last year, Akutami surprised fans with a sequel series, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, which was illustrated by Yuji Iwasaki.
This story is set 68 years after the events of the Culling Game, introducing a new cast of characters and showing what happened to fan favorites from the original. Though the Modulo arc has concluded, the creators are already working on future projects and don’t intend to stop creating.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Creators Will Return With New Manga

Each issue of Shonen Jump includes a note from the editor, but this information isn’t usually available to fans outside of Japan. While official translations don’t include these messages, fans on X (formerly Twitter) who have access to the magazine often share them. The editor’s note for Chapter 25 says, “Thank you for reading for the past six months! We hope you’ll enjoy the next project from Gege and Iwasaki! The final volume of JJK Modulo will be released on May 1st!”
Akutami also mentioned that being published alongside Iwasaki-san was a huge learning experience, and signed off by saying, “See you later!”
The article featured a quote from Iwasaki, who shared their exhaustion after working incredibly hard. They said, “I pushed myself to the limit just to keep up, and after six months, I’m completely burned out! I need to rest and recover before returning.”
All the recent comments about a new project were originally posted in Japanese. Thankfully, @Go_Jover on X, a trusted source for Jujutsu Kaisen news, translated them. Both the editor and creator Akutami have confirmed he’s planning a new series and may already have an idea for it. While it’s not certain if artist Iwasaki will work with Akutami again, he’s known for his excellent work on Modulo and intends to take a short break before starting his next project.
Although a continuation hasn’t been officially announced, the story concludes with a significant unresolved plot point, hinting at potential future developments. Dabura departed for Simuria to resolve issues within his clan, leaving Kyouko despite his feelings for her. The manga also leaves several mysteries unanswered, notably the whereabouts of Iori Okkotsu, who disappeared soon after Yuka was born. Meanwhile, Yuji has embarked on a new quest and is turning to Nobara for assistance, and she’s fully committed to helping him.
