While Capcom recently shared updates on games like Pragmata and Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, they’ve also confirmed they have other games in development that haven’t been announced yet. During a recent earnings report discussion, Capcom stated they plan to reveal these new titles in the future.
Capcom plans to balance creating new games with continuing to support and release its existing library of popular titles. More specifics about this approach will be shared in their annual earnings report.
The company announced they will share their plans for the upcoming year when they release their full-year earnings report. They’re continuing to focus on selling both new and existing digital content. While they highlighted Pragmata, they also said more new titles will be revealed later, and they’ll keep working on ways to boost sales of their existing library of content.
However, the company didn’t share many specifics about the new games they plan to announce. When it comes to increasing game sales, Capcom is probably considering re-releasing some of their older titles that aren’t yet available on current consoles and PCs. This could include series like Breath of Fire and PS2 favorites such as Shadow of Rome. Given the recent success and upcoming continuation of the Onimusha series, Capcom may also be planning to bring Onimusha 3: Demon Siege to a new generation of players.
The company said they have no further details to share about upcoming games beyond Pragmata and Onimusha: Way of the Sword, which they’ve already announced. They asked fans to stay tuned for future updates.
Here’s what’s coming up in releases: Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection launches on March 13th for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. Then, on March 27th, Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection arrives on PC, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One & Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. Finally, Pragmata will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch on April 24th.
Capcom has shared some information about Onimusha: Way of the Sword, but hasn’t announced when it will be released. Earlier this year, the game’s director, Satoru Nihei, emphasized that fast-paced action is a key part of what makes the Onimusha series special.
When it comes to what defines an Onimusha game, gameplay is key,” he explained. “You’ll find classic features like absorbing souls and performing Issen counters, and we’ve really focused on perfecting those elements for this new installment.
The new game, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, will nod to previous Onimusha games with familiar themes and ideas, but it won’t feature any characters from those older stories, as it’s not directly connected to their storylines.
The action game Onimusha: Way of the Sword will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S later in 2024. Capcom hasn’t officially announced it, but a version for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 is also expected.
