Meghan Markle Shares Photo of Daughter Lilibet Taken by Prince Harry

Meghan Markle is celebrating the little lady in her life.

To celebrate International Women’s Day, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, shared a sweet, previously unseen photo of her and her 4-year-old daughter, Princess Lilibet. She mentioned that her husband, Prince Harry, took the picture.

I was so touched by the recent photo of Meghan! It shows her from behind, sitting on some rocks overlooking the beach, looking so relaxed in a light blue dress and baseball cap – her hair pulled back in a simple bun. But what really got to me was seeing her hugging and kissing little Lili. It was such a sweet, natural moment.

She wrote in an Instagram post on March 8th, ‘To the woman I will become… Happy International Women’s Day!’

The 44-year-old also mentioned the photo was taken by “Papa Sussex,” who is also the father of her 6-year-old son, Prince Archie.

I was so excited to see the newest photo of Meghan and Lilibet! It’s been just a few weeks since Meghan shared a really sweet picture of Lilibet with Harry for Valentine’s Day – it was the clearest we’d seen of her yet, and this new mom-daughter moment is just as precious.

I was so happy to see those new photos of Harry and his daughter! He looked absolutely beaming while holding her, and it was lovely to finally see her face in profile – Meghan usually shares pictures of the back of her head, so this was a really sweet change.

Oh my gosh, you guys, a new photo of little Lili just dropped and she is precious! It feels like ages since we’ve seen her! It’s a little bittersweet though, because I just read that Meghan’s amazing lifestyle brand, Archewell, is moving on from Netflix after a year. I know she’s totally focused on building it independently, and honestly, she says she wants her and Archie and Lili to learn from changes like this. She’s such an inspiration, always thinking about growth and the future! I just adore her and everything she does.

As a mom to kids who are constantly growing and learning, I see them tackle huge challenges daily. It’s really shifted my perspective! It’s helped me realize I need to extend the same kindness and understanding to myself that I give them – especially when I’m building something new. Honestly, I’ve learned there’s no point striving for perfection; it just doesn’t exist.

Meghan shared that she hoped people would appreciate the importance of courage. She believes young people are naturally more fearless, and that we tend to lose some of that bravery as we age.

He explained to Sky News in 2015 that you can’t rush things like starting a family, and it will happen when the time is right. When asked if his niece, Princess Charlotte’s birth, made him consider settling down, he admitted he’d love to have children someday, but that there are steps you need to take first.

Meghan purchased a Cartier French Tank watch years ago as a future gift for her daughter. She remembered feeling excited when the TV show Suits was renewed for a third season, so she treated herself to the two-tone watch. She had it engraved with ‘To M.M. From M.M.’ and intends to pass it down to her daughter someday, as she told Hello! magazine in 2015.

As a long-time follower, I’ve always been fascinated by Prince Harry‘s thoughts on becoming a father. He’s been very open about how it wasn’t always a straightforward desire for him. He once told People magazine, back in 2016 before he met Meghan, that there were moments, especially while traveling, when he really longed to have children. But then other times, he’d feel completely overwhelmed and think he wasn’t ready at all – he’d just put the idea aside! He was honest about how the thought of having kids sometimes actually deterred him, and that he wasn’t feeling any pressure to rush into it.

Oh my gosh, I still remember when Harry and Meghan announced they were engaged! They did this amazing interview, and everyone was dying to know about babies, naturally. Harry was so cute, he said, “Of course, we’d love to start a family someday, one step at a time!” and Meghan was just beaming at him. It was the sweetest thing ever, and I’ve been obsessed ever since!

Meghan described becoming a mother after Archie was born as ‘magic.’ She added that she felt incredibly lucky to have her two wonderful sons.

After Archie was born in May 2019, Prince Harry expressed how wonderful becoming a father was. He said he couldn’t imagine a more amazing experience and was in awe of mothers. He and Meghan were overjoyed and thankful for all the kindness and support they received, and they wanted to share their happiness with everyone.

During a 2019 speech at the National Youth Mentoring Summit, Harry spoke about what becoming a parent had taught him. He emphasized the significant impact of role models, even those unaware of their influence. He explained that someone might be inspiring another person to be kinder, more successful, or make a bigger difference simply by being themselves. He connected this to his own experience as a father, realizing his son is constantly observing and learning from his actions and example.

In 2020, Prince Harry explained that while his son is his top priority, his work comes second. He and his wife are committed to doing everything they can to contribute to a better world.

Despite the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic, Harry and Meghan found a positive side: more time with their son, Archie. Meghan explained in October 2020 that without the pandemic, they would have been busy traveling and working, and would have missed out on precious moments watching Archie grow. She described it as a period of valuable family time.

Harry shared, “We both witnessed all of Archie’s firsts – his first steps, when he started running, and even his first tumbles.”

In May 2021, Meghan appeared on TV for a special event called VAX Live, hosted by Global Citizen. During the concert, she talked about being pregnant and how happy she and her husband were to soon have a daughter. She shared, “We’re so excited to welcome our daughter – a joy we share with families everywhere.” She also expressed hope that her daughter, and all young women, would have the opportunity and support to make a positive impact on the world.

As a lifestyle expert, I truly believe the kind of leaders we’ll have in the future is directly shaped by what we do today. It’s about making choices and taking actions now that will build a brighter, fairer, and more caring world for everyone – not just them, but all of us.

Meghan Markle makes a quick appearance in her husband Prince Harry’s Apple TV+ series, co-created with Oprah Winfrey, called The Me You Can’t See. While on screen, she appeared to honor her children by wearing a shirt with the message, “Raising the Future.”

The couple recently welcomed their daughter, Lili, into the world. They shared the news on their Archewell Foundation website, saying they are overjoyed with her arrival and deeply grateful for all the well wishes and support they’ve received from people around the world. They thanked everyone for their kindness during this special time for their family.

Meghan Markle’s first children’s book, The Bench, will be released on June 8, 2021. The book celebrates the bond between fathers and children, seen through a mother’s eyes. Meghan shared that it began as a poem she wrote for her husband on Father’s Day, shortly after their son Archie was born, and eventually grew into the story it is today.

In a letter written in October 2021 to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senator Chuck Schumer, Meghan explained why she supported required paid parental leave in the United States. She described feeling both incredibly happy and overwhelmed when her daughter was born, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic was still disrupting normal life in hospitals and schools.

Unlike many new parents, we didn’t face the difficult decision of returning to work shortly after our baby was born. We were fortunate enough to be able to stay home with her during those important first months, fully focusing on our children and family. This meant we didn’t have to struggle with the impossible choices many parents face regarding childcare, work, and healthcare.

Meghan explained that no family should ever have to make the difficult choice between working and caring for a child, family member, or themselves. She believes a comprehensive paid leave plan would prevent these impossible decisions.

In April 2022, Harry explained that it was very difficult to balance parenting with working from home.

He mentioned that Archie interrupts their Zoom calls more than anyone. He added that Archie joins the calls frequently, which is positive.

Harry realized he was already seeing his own playful sense of humor in his son. “I make a point of maintaining that,” he explained. “I believe a bit of mischievousness is what keeps you young at heart.”

Meghan admitted she was concerned for her—and everybody else’s—kids in the age of social media.

During a talk at the Archewell Foundation Parents’ Summit in October 2023, she shared that being a mother is the most important part of her life, after being a wife to Harry. The summit, focused on mental wellness in the digital age, was part of Project Healthy Minds’ World Mental Health Day events.

She continued, saying she’s grateful her children are still young, so this issue isn’t something they’re facing right now. However, she’s also worried about how things are changing and knows they’ll eventually have to deal with it.

As a parent, Meghan observed how quickly time passes, saying, ‘The days feel long, but the years fly by.’ She also pointed out that everyone is impacted by the internet and social media, and that ultimately, we all simply want to feel secure.

During a visit to Lightway Academy in Abuja, Nigeria in May 2024, Meghan told a class of kindergarteners that her daughter, Lili, is very small. Lili is almost three years old, and recently she noticed her own reflection in her mother’s eyes. Meghan recounted that Lili pointed to her reflection and said, ‘Mama, I see me in you.’

Meghan explained that the other person was speaking very directly, but Meghan interpreted those words in a deeply personal way. She realized, ‘Yes, we understand each other; we see ourselves in one another.’
