Housemarque, the developers of the upcoming game Saros, recently released a new video showcasing the game’s development process and character creation. The four-minute video features interviews with key members of the team, including creative director Gregory Louden, narrative lead William Shaughnessy, art director Simone Silvestri, senior narrative designer Khalil Ossaimi, and technical art director Martin Contel. You can watch it below.
Louden explained that the December trailer was designed to introduce players to the diverse group of characters they’ll encounter in Saros. Shaughnessy added that the actors, such as Rahul Kohli (playing Arjun Devraj) and Jane Perry (as Sheridan Bouchard), were fantastic to collaborate with.
Honestly, one of the coolest things about this game is the actors we got for the NPCs. They really nail that feeling of being in an alien world where things can go either way – hopeful or terrifying. It’s awesome how as you play, and the characters learn more, the tension just builds and things start to feel really bleak. You can totally see how everyone on the crew deals with the pressure differently, which makes it feel so real.
Silvestri shared, ‘Rahul Kohli is just a really great guy to work with. His performance as Arjun is phenomenal.’
Housemarque recently shared some gameplay footage of their upcoming game, Saros, highlighting its quick and intense bullet-dodging action. The trailers showed off Arjun’s abilities, including skillful gunplay like bouncing shots off walls. Another video focused on Arjun’s agility, emphasizing how players will need to use quick movements to dodge a large number of enemy attacks.
Last month’s gameplay trailer gave a better look at Saros, a fast-paced, third-person shooter where you’ll dodge attacks and use guns. The trailer showed how you can improve your character with upgrades and unlock special abilities to help with each attempt. Players can also customize the difficulty to adjust how much damage enemies deal.
Saros follows Arjun Devraj, a Soltari Enforcer, as he lands on Carcosa, a bizarre planet that constantly changes its appearance. The planet is filled with unusual environments and surreal scenery, dotted with the remnants of old civilizations and unfamiliar technology.
The game’s title was first revealed in February 2025. Shortly after, Ilari Kuittinen, the CEO of the studio, discussed how the game’s development became feasible only after Sony acquired Housemarque. He explained that Sony increased the game’s budget, allowing them to create the third-person roguelite shooter.
The new game Saros is coming to PlayStation 5 on April 30th. Unlike the previous game by the same developers, Returnal, Saros appears to be a PlayStation exclusive, meaning it won’t be released on other consoles. You can find more information in recent reports.
