DC Reveals a Brand New Joker, And He’s a Nightmare

The Joker’s new look is officially the least scary thing about him, and knows it.

In the latest issue of Batman #7, Bruce Wayne receives a surprising summons from Arkham Towers, leading to a long-awaited confrontation with the Joker, known as Patient 10. A doctor named Annika Zeller has given the Joker a newfound clarity of mind. However, this clarity allows him to see past Batman’s disguise, recognizing Bruce Wayne beneath the mask and perceiving the dangerous enemies now pursuing him.

In DC Comics’ Batman #7, Batman receives a strange summons to Arkham Towers from the man in Room Ten. What he discovers there will shock him—it’s someone many know as The Joker, and some might even call Batman’s closest friend.

Matt Fraction’s Batman Introduces A New Joker Backstory

First appearing in Batman #1 in 1940, created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane in the story “The Joker,” the Clown Prince of Crime is one of Batman’s earliest and most well-known enemies. Over the decades, the Joker has been reinterpreted countless times in comics, movies, TV shows, and other forms of media within the DC Universe.

Fans are seeing the Joker in one of his most vulnerable states ever. He’s now essentially a prisoner at Arkham Towers, completely dependent on intravenous feeding. Doctor Annika Zeller is in control, not only providing his care but also using a device called the Crown of Storms to manipulate his brain activity.

Bruce Wayne has been trying to figure out Doctor Zeller’s research, and even took her on a date hoping to learn more. Sadly, the date turned violent when they were attacked from multiple sides. To make things even worse, after the attack was stopped, a mysterious figure appeared and called Bruce “father” right in front of Doctor Zeller.

Batman #7 from DC Comics is on sale now.
