Bob Odenkirk Addresses Potential Pluribus Season 2 Cameo After Giving Season 1 A Glowing Review

Bob Odenkirk, after praising the first season of Pluribus, talks about whether he’ll appear in the next season.

Vince Gilligan, the creative force behind the popular Apple TV science-fiction series, is also known for creating and running Breaking Bad, where Bob Odenkirk became famous for his role as the lawyer Saul Goodman. Odenkirk later returned to the character in Better Call Saul, a Breaking Bad prequel co-created by Gilligan, who also served as co-showrunner for its first three seasons. Rhea Seehorn, who starred alongside Odenkirk as lawyer Kim Wexler in Better Call Saul, now takes on the lead role of Carol Sturka in Pluribus.

Bob Odenkirk, speaking with ScreenRant’s Ash Crossan at the Saturn Awards, continued to rave about the show Pluribus, saying it’s so good it deserves a rating “beyond perfect” – even suggesting scores of 6 out of 4 and 8 out of 5 stars. He noted that creator Vince Gilligan pays incredible attention to detail, making even small elements meaningful. The show is outstanding – truly exceptional. It’s clear the creator, Vince Gilligan, has a specific style, and to fully appreciate it, you need to pay close attention to even the smallest details, because everything is intentional. Beyond the exciting plot, the show tackles important ethical questions and offers a fresh take on the post-apocalyptic genre.

I’d love to make a quick appearance, but it’s just not possible. I’m afraid being there would completely disrupt everything. I guess if they covered my face and gave me a disguise, maybe then. [Chuckles]

If Bob Odenkirk joined the cast of Pluribus, he wouldn’t be the only Better Call Saul actor alongside Anna Seehorn. Patrick Fabian, who played Howard Hamlin, provides the voice for the automated message Carol hears when the hive mind briefly disconnects from her. Plus, Carol Burnett, another Better Call Saul star, appears as a fictionalized version of herself in a video on Pluribus’ social media.

While Fabian made a voice appearance and Burnett was only featured in promotional material, Rhea Seehorn is the only actor from Better Call Saul with a significant role in the Apple TV+ show. Bob Odenkirk explains that a physical appearance by him wouldn’t be a small thing, and he doesn’t want to distract from the world creator Vince Gilligan has built, a world powerfully led by Seehorn’s Golden Globe-winning performance.

If Bob Odenkirk joins the science-fiction show, his role might be similar to John Cena’s brief appearance in Pluribus. Cena plays a fictionalized version of himself in episode 6 – a character connected to a collective consciousness. Through a recording, he explains to Carol why he and other infected people consume the deceased, even though they promised not to harm anyone.

Odenkirk might make a brief appearance, perhaps through a recording, which would allow him to be part of the show without disrupting the dynamic between him and Seehorn. Right now, though, he’s happy to support Seehorn and Gilligan with their new project, Pluribus, and simply enjoy the series as a viewer.
