Resident Evil Requiem Story Expansion in Development, New Mini-Game and Photo Mode Also Confirmed

The long-awaited expansion for Resident Evil Requiem is confirmed to be in development, according to director Koshi Nakanishi. After sharing a series of playful images – one of which jokingly suggested Leon Kennedy might be getting married – Nakanishi announced that the expansion will explore the world of Requiem in greater detail.

We’re currently making improvements and it will take a while, so we appreciate your patience. We’re excited about what’s coming! Before the big update, we’ll be releasing several free additions, like a Photo Mode and a new mini-game. We’re also hinting at the return of The Mercenaries mode – a recent listing mentioning Rosemary Winters suggests this might be true!

It’s still early to say what the future holds, but the team developing Resident Evil Requiem is dedicated to continuing support for the game, which quickly became a success with over five million copies sold in just one week.

The upcoming expansion seems to be focusing on Leon S. Kennedy, not Alyssa Ashcroft as many people previously thought. While the full story is still a secret, development is reportedly nearing completion, meaning it might be released sooner than anticipated – potentially around the same time as the ‘Requiem’ update.

Capcom is reportedly working on several future projects, including remakes of Resident Evil: Code – Veronica, Resident Evil Zero, and the original Resident Evil. While a remake of the first game is likely further off, a new main Resident Evil title is also in development and is expected to release sometime before 2029, if development stays on track.

A remake of Code – Veronica is reportedly coming first, with a reveal planned for this year and a release expected in the first six months of 2027. Keep an eye out for further details!
