Jennifer Lopez Teases “Very Free” Chapter Before Kids Go to College

Jennifer Lopez can’t get enough of this current stage of life.

Jennifer Lopez, a mother of 18-year-old twins Max and Emme with her ex-husband Marc Anthony, says she’s feeling more confident than ever despite recent changes in her life.

Jennifer described this time in her life as her ‘happy era,’ explaining that she feels freer and more joyful than ever before. She also expressed gratitude for the lessons she’s learned and everything she has. She shared these thoughts in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, published on March 10.

The 56-year-old shared that he starts each day with a positive attitude. He noted that his life has changed significantly in recent years.

Jennifer has had a lot of changes in her personal life recently. She ended her relationship with Alex Rodriguez in 2021, then got back together with Ben Affleck, and they married in 2022. Sadly, they separated in 2024, and their divorce was completed by January 2025.

Honestly, it feels like Jennifer has been juggling so much lately! Between being a mom to her twins and keeping up with her incredible career – acting and that amazing Las Vegas residency – she’s constantly on the go. It’s inspiring to see how she manages it all, really.

Jennifer Lopez is facing another big life change as her twins, Max and Emme, prepare to go to college. “They’re leaving in August,” she shared with ET, adding, “I know, it’s hard to believe!”

While the actress known for Kiss of the Spider Woman is excited for her teenage children to become independent, she’s also a little sad to see them grow up and leave home.

It’s been a really emotional experience,” Jennifer said. “I unexpectedly found myself getting very tearful while writing the end-of-year letters for the graduating students. It comes over you in waves of feeling.”

As she navigates her emotions, the mom of two knows one thing to be true.

She simply wanted her children to be happy and to always feel safe and loved at home with her.

Jennifer is cherishing the time she has left with her children before they move out, and she’s even asking for their opinions to help improve her shows in Las Vegas.

She shared that her friends are very open with her. “They tell me exactly what’s on their minds,” she explained. “We’re close enough that I always ask for their opinions on things – whether it’s a project or just a new idea. I’ll show them something and say, ‘What do you think of this?’”

Jennifer recently shared these thoughts shortly after celebrating her twins turning eighteen. She had previously spoken about how becoming a mother positively changed her life and how close she is to her teenage children.

She shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, recalling how holding her twins as babies felt like cradling angels. She wrote that her life was forever changed, and expressed disbelief at how quickly time passed, as her ‘babies’ are now adults and turning 18.

Describing Max and Emme as kind, generous, and loving, Jennifer Lopez promised to always support her children. She shared that they’ve always been a close-knit family, navigating life’s challenges together and providing each other with stability and strength through everything.

She reassured them, calling them ‘my beautiful coconuts,’ that her love would remain constant, no matter how much they grew or changed.
