Miley Cyrus, Billy Ray Cyrus Return to Hannah Montana Set in Trailer

Sweet niblets! Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus are back in Malibu. 

A new trailer for the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special, coming to Disney+ on March 24th, shows Miley Cyrus back in her famous blonde wig. She revisits the original Hannah Montana set with her parents, Tish Cyrus and her dad.

In the new trailer released on March 10th, Miley Cyrus, dressed as her character Miley Stewart’s popstar persona, exclaims, “Already getting emotional… Wow.”

A preview of Miley’s upcoming special shows her touring the redesigned set with her mom. Another clip features a playful moment where she bumps into her dad, who still sports a style very similar to his famous character, Robby Ray Stewart.

As a longtime fan of Hannah Montana, I immediately recognized something super sweet in the new trailer! It’s the ‘booty bump’ – that adorable little move Miley and Robby did as their special handshake on the show! Billy Ray Cyrus even posted about it on Instagram, saying it’s been 20 years and Miley still remembers it! It just warmed my heart to see that little piece of Hannah Montana history still alive.

You know, everyone talks about Miley Cyrus’s signature handshake, but the story behind it is actually super sweet! It all started way back when she was auditioning for the Disney series that made her famous. They were testing out different actors to play her dad on screen, and that’s when she and her now-famous handshake were born – a way to connect with each potential on-screen father figure!

Miley remembered that after she got the part, the show’s producers started looking for actors to play her father. The casting director had suggested her own dad, saying he was good-looking and would be perfect for the role.

Miley shared that her dad was working in Toronto, but her mom, Tish, convinced him to fly to California for an audition.

I was looking through some old tapes the other day and stumbled upon something really special – a video of my dad and me doing our secret handshake! It brought back so many great memories, and I had to share it. It was our thing, you know?

Miley has often discussed the challenges of working with her father, both for her and their family. However, after she was cast in the show, her father, known for “Achy Breaky Heart,” publicly expressed how proud he was of her success.

Working with my daughter has been incredibly rewarding,” Billy Ray shared with CBS News in 2007. “As a father, it’s amazing to watch her grow, not just as an actress, but as a person, and to be a part of this journey has been one of the best experiences of my life.

Miley Cyrus has become a global superstar. Following the conclusion of Hannah Montana, the actor appeared in shows like Kickin’ It on Disney XD, WTH: Welcome to Howler, and Hotel Du Loone. He married Katie Drysen in 2017.

The actor was on the show Pair of Kings and later hosted PrankStars after Hannah Montana finished its run. In 2011, at age 20, he was arrested for driving under the influence. As a result, his role on Pair of Kings was removed, and PrankStars was canceled. More recently, he’s continued acting, appearing in voice roles on the animated series Phineas and Ferb and Milo Murphy’s Law.

I’ve been a fan of this actor for years, and I’ve really enjoyed seeing him pop up in so many different things! I remember him on shows like The Middle and Jean-Claude Van Johnson, and he was great in films like Ben-Hur and Pitch Perfect 3. But honestly, one of my favorite roles was in The King of Staten Island – that film, directed by Pete Davidson and Judd Apatow, was just fantastic!

Let me tell you a bit about what this talented performer has been up to! She really shone on Broadway when she starred in the revival of Godspell back in late 2011. But she’s not just an actress – she’s a fantastic singer too! In 2012, she even opened for the Jonas Brothers on their Asia tour, which was incredible. You might have also seen her popping up on TV shows like Baby Daddy and the newer version of Charmed. On a personal note, she got engaged to Scott Kline in November 2018, and they had a beautiful wedding the following June – Uzo Aduba was her maid of honor, which is just lovely!

Following the conclusion of Hannah Montana, the actress continued her career with roles in shows like Melissa & Joey and The Young and the Restless, as well as several television films including Life-Size 2.

The performer came in fourth place on season seven of Dancing With The Stars and released his first album in 2012. He also kept acting, with appearances in two episodes of Melissa & Joey and in the TV movies Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens and Sharknado 5: Global Swarming.

Miley’s father is still focused on his music. He achieved his first number-one hit in 2019 by collaborating with Lil Nas X on a remix of the hugely popular song “Old Town Road.” Before that, from 2016 to 2017, he was a star on the show Still the King.

Miley Cyrus’s younger sister was in six episodes of the show Hannah Montana. She started her own music career in 2016 with the song “Make Me (Cry).” In 2018, she briefly dated Lil Xan and they recorded a song together called “Live or Die,” but they split up after a few months.

She got engaged to designer Pinkus in 2023.
