Steven Spielberg hasn’t lost his cinematic pull.
He’s incredibly successful – the famous filmmaker recently topped Forbes’ 2026 list of the world’s billionaires on March 10th. This is the second year in a row he’s held the number one spot.
Steven Spielberg is estimated to be worth $7.1 billion, largely because he’s the highest-grossing director ever. His success comes from directing hugely popular movies like Jurassic Park, E.T. the Extraterrestrial, and the Indiana Jones films, among others.
Plus, the 79-year-old continues to earn money annually from Universal Studios thanks to theme park rides based on his films.
The director of Saving Private Ryan, who first appeared on the Forbes list in 1994 but didn’t reach number one until 2025, increased his earnings through his production company, Amblin Entertainment, and as a cofounder of the animation studio DreamWorks.
Steven Spielberg wasn’t the only film and television giant recognized by Forbes this year. George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars, came in second with an estimated net worth of $5.2 billion. Peter Jackson, director of Lord of the Rings, reached $1.6 billion, and other successful figures like James Cameron, Dick Wolf, and Tyler Perry also made the list.
The list of top earners also includes well-known figures like Rihanna, Beyoncé (who became a billionaire last December), her husband JAY-Z, Taylor Swift, Kim Kardashian, and Oprah Winfrey.

In addition to recently being recognized as a billionaire, Steven achieved another major milestone last month by winning his first Grammy Award. This makes him one of the rare few people to have earned an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony Award – a feat known as winning an EGOT.
The director, who received an award for producing the documentary Music by John Williams, said the recognition was very important to him. He’s long believed that John Williams’ impact on music and culture is enormous, and that his talent and lasting contribution are unmatched. He also expressed his pride in being part of Laurent’s film.
