As a huge fan of action shows, I’ve been totally hooked on Prime Video’s Reacher – it’s got everything you want: a tough ex-military cop, personal struggles, and seriously dangerous villains. But now Netflix is throwing its hat in the ring with a remake of Man of Fire, and honestly, the first trailer is intense. It’s got me thinking this one could give Reacher a real run for its money!
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, known from Watchmen and Wonder Man, plays John Creasy in this new series. The trailer reveals he’s a former Special Forces operative with three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Initially, the trailer suggests he might be past his prime, but that idea is quickly proven wrong as we see him diving into intense action – think explosions, prison breaks, and brutal street fights. When Creasy threatens someone, you immediately believe he means business. All seven episodes will be available on Netflix starting April 30th.
Netflix’s Man on Fire is a Remake of One of Denzel Washington’s Best Films
You might recognize the title Man on Fire, and for good reason. The new series is based on the A.J. Quinnell novel of the same name, which was also made into a popular 2004 film. Directed by Tony Scott and starring Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning, the movie received mixed reviews – critics weren’t impressed, but audiences loved it. Washington’s performance was particularly memorable, showcasing both raw emotion and intense action as he played a man driven by a deeply personal quest for revenge. It’s a unique role in his career, and despite being dark and violent, the film is considered a standout.
I’m really hooked by the new Netflix series, Man on Fire! It’s shaping up to be just as captivating as the original story. What’s even cooler is they’re not stopping with just the first book – they’re planning to cover the sequel, The Perfect Kill, too. I already get the feeling that Abdul-Mateen II is going to be amazing as Creasy – he just feels like someone you don’t want to mess with. We haven’t seen much of his backstory or what he’s struggling with yet, but the show is already super intense. Plus, the cast is fantastic with Billie Boullet, Bobby Cannavale, Alice Braga, Scoot McNairy, and Paul Ben-Victor all involved!
