I’m a huge fan of Naruto, and honestly, Akatsuki is one of the coolest villain groups ever. You instantly know who they are just by seeing those cloaks – they’re everywhere, from conventions to just people showing their love for the series! But it’s not just the look; they’re seriously powerful and presented a real, terrifying threat to the entire ninja world. They weren’t just bad guys, they were a force to be reckoned with!
While the Akatsuki is known for its powerful members, not everyone within the group is equally threatening. Some simply don’t measure up to their colleagues, lacking either strong abilities or the versatility to fight effectively in most situations. These members were always at a disadvantage.
Sasori’s Puppet Jutsu Has Limitations That Expose His Weaknesses
Sasori’s ability to control puppets is incredibly powerful – he can manage hundreds of them from a distance. If used effectively, it’s a force that could overwhelm an entire country. He spent his life perfecting this art, creating a collection of over a hundred puppets, and even turning skilled ninja into puppets to expand his arsenal.
Sasori’s fighting relies heavily on his puppets working perfectly. Skilled ninja who can sense things well or disrupt his chakra threads can easily exploit weaknesses in his style, which ultimately led to his defeat by Sakura and Chiyo. Unlike powerful Akatsuki members like Pain and Kisame, who have overwhelming strength beyond any specific technique, Sasori’s abilities have a clear limit, preventing him from reaching the same level of power as the organization’s strongest fighters.
Deidara’s Explosive Clay Jutsu Is Dangerous When There’s No One To Neutralize It
Deidara fights by creating and exploding clay. He uses his hands – which have mouths in them – to mix his energy into the clay and sculpt it into creatures that explode with incredible force. He prefers to fight from a distance, making him very dangerous. Deidara can even fly using a large clay bird, giving him an advantage over ground-based opponents. When he’s at his strongest, he’s capable of completely destroying vast areas.
Deidara’s fighting becomes ineffective if opponents get close or disable his bombs. Sasuke defeated Deidara by making his explosive attacks useless and destroying his clay creations with lightning. Because Deidara only uses one type of elemental power and fights in a single way, he’s easily beaten when his strategy is countered.
Watching the Akatsuki members fight, I noticed that guys like Kakuzu and Kisame were just much more capable in a fight overall – they had more ways to attack and a lot more raw strength than Deidara. While Deidara’s explosions could definitely cause some serious damage, he really seemed to specialize in long-range attacks. It felt like that was all he did, making him a bit of a weak point in the group compared to the others.
Konan’s Paper Jutsu Isn’t on the Same Tier as Other Akatsuki Members
Konan’s importance as an original member of the Akatsuki, and the only woman in the group, is significant. However, some might expect her skills to be more than just paper-based techniques. Her ability is definitely one-of-a-kind – she can transform into countless sheets of paper for offense, defense, and even flight. During her battle with Obito, she demonstrated the scale of her power by preparing an astonishing 600 billion paper bombs to try and defeat him.
Konan’s paper jutsu, while incredibly powerful and overwhelming at first, has a significant weakness: it’s easily countered by fire or water. Furthermore, because this is her only technique, opponents can figure out her fighting style, and she struggles in long battles. This lack of versatility ultimately led to her defeat against Obito, even with extensive preparation.
Konan isn’t a well-rounded fighter; she excels at support from a distance. While she’s a skilled and effective ninja, her overall fighting ability and power level generally rank her as one of the weaker members of the Akatsuki when compared to the group’s strongest fighters.
Hidan Admitted That He Thinks He’s the Weakest Link in the Akatsuki
Hidan’s defining traits are his inability to die and his unique fighting style involving cursed rituals. Once he consumes an opponent’s blood, any injury he inflicts on himself is instantly mirrored onto them. This makes him a frightening enemy, and he was directly responsible for Asuma’s death. Despite his immortality, Hidan lacks other significant skills and even considers himself the weakest member of the Akatsuki.
Hidan isn’t physically strong and relies solely on his unique, three-bladed scythe. His fighting style centers around establishing a blood connection with his opponent. Interestingly, Shikamaru defeated Hidan not with brute force, but through clever strategy and a thorough understanding of Hidan’s unique abilities. While Hidan appears powerful due to his immortality, he’s actually a fairly simple fighter with limited skills.
Zetsu’s Role in Naruto Prioritizes Espionage Over Combat
Zetsu acts as a spy and infiltrator. He’s actually two people sharing one plant-like body, and his skills are best used for sneaking around, hiding, and gathering information. He can blend into walls and move underground, making him a great scout. As an observer and messenger for the Akatsuki, he’s one of their most valuable members. He can even disguise himself by copying other people’s appearances, making him useful for much more than just spying.
Zetsu is undeniably the weakest fighter in the Akatsuki. He relies on stealth and ambushes, but lacks any real offensive power or ability to fight directly. Throughout the entire Naruto series, he never actually wins a significant battle.
Zetsu was never a powerful fighter within the Akatsuki; his main contribution was gathering information. While the Akatsuki was full of incredibly dangerous criminals, Zetsu served a supporting role rather than being a frontline combatant. He’s certainly important to the overall story of Naruto, but his strength doesn’t come from fighting ability.
