Benny Blanco Addresses Rumors About Hygiene After Dirty Feet Backlash

Benny Blanco is coming clean about his personal hygiene.

Okay, so you will NOT believe the drama! Ever since those pictures of his feet circulated last month, everyone’s been talking about… well, everything! He actually addressed the rumors about him smelling, can you believe it?! And my absolute hero, Ed Sheeran, jumped to his defense! Ed! Seriously, they’re both perfect, and I’m just living for this whole thing. It’s just… ugh, amazing.

On the March 10th episode of Benny’s podcast, Friends Keep Secrets, Ed playfully admitted, “I probably don’t smell great myself, but you genuinely smell amazing!”

Benny replied, “I know! I smell good—even if I don’t shower.”

They both decided that if anyone received criticism for the situation, it should be Benny’s podcast partner, Lil Dicky.

Ed made a crude comparison after smelling the rapper’s bellybutton, saying it smelled unpleasant. He then asked for something to get rid of the odor.

Benny added, “Mine smells just like nothing.”

Benny explained on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on February 26th that the dirt on the soles of his feet, which caused a lot of online discussion, wasn’t his fault – it was due to the podcast studio he was using.

The artist from “Sunset Blvd” proudly showed off his feet, joking that they were “great” and asking someone to zoom in for a closer look, declaring, “Look at that. Clean foot!”

Even with everything going on, Benny is grateful for his wife, Selena, who he married in September after dating for two years. She clearly adores him – she even kissed his foot while she was a guest on his podcast!

“Enjoying the show?” Benny teased, and Selena playfully swatted his arm, replying, “Don’t make a big deal out of it!”

As a huge fan, I was so touched by what Benny said about her! He described her as a truly independent woman, and then, honestly, he got a little playful. He jokingly said he really has to restrain himself from being completely smitten with her – from wanting to kiss her and just… well, you get the idea! It’s sweet to see how much he admires her, even if he’s trying to play it cool.

He added, “So, to watch her just kiss my toe really made my day.”

Benny playfully asked if Selena liked something, and she responded with a lighthearted slap, telling him, “Don’t make a big deal out of it!”

Benny described the 33-year-old as a strong, independent woman, and emphasized that he actively controls his attraction to her, resisting any urge to constantly pursue a physical relationship.

He added, “So, to watch her just kiss my toe really made my day.”

In a 2021 post on what was then Twitter (now X), he shared his showering routine: a cold shower first thing in the morning, a warm shower after exercising, and a hot shower when he gets home from work. Despite saying on the 2025 podcast Friends Keep Secrets that he doesn’t seem to have good hygiene, Ed Sheeran actually showers several times each day.

“Sometimes twice a day,” he said. “Mostly twice a day, actually.”
