Netflix boasts a vast library of original shows, and one in particular has really stood the test of time – it just released a new set of 10 episodes! March has been a busy month for the streaming service with lots of new content, including the second season of One Piece and the first three Jurassic World films. This week, Netflix brought back its longest-running series ever, and you can watch all the episodes now.
Season 7 of the popular series Virgin River premiered on Netflix on March 12th. Based on Robyn Carr’s books, the show has become Netflix’s longest-running original scripted series and English-language drama, exceeding the runs of shows like House of Cards and The Crown. Starring Alexandra Breckenridge as Mel Monroe Sheridan, a nurse practitioner seeking a new life in the small town of Virgin River, the series follows her blossoming romance with bar owner Jack. In Season 7, the newly married couple, Mel and Jack, are focused on their goal of adopting a baby.
Virgin River Is the Perfect Hallmark-Style Cozy Watch
Seven seasons is a long time for any Netflix show, especially one they create themselves, but Virgin River has proven it deserves to stick around. While it hasn’t always impressed critics – it has a mixed record on review sites and an average audience score of 67% – Virgin River has built a devoted fanbase. A big reason for its success is how comforting it is to watch. It feels like a long, heartwarming Hallmark movie, with a beautiful, cozy small-town setting. The slow-developing romance between the main characters, Mel and Jack, combined with feel-good, predictable storylines, makes the show incredibly relaxing and easy to get lost in. It’s the perfect series to binge-watch quickly.
Season 7 of Virgin River still delivers the heartwarming and comforting feel fans love. However, some critics believe this season might be a sign that it’s time for the show to end. While the season continues to focus on Mel and Jack as they become parents – a highlight for many – overall, it’s been described as disappointing. According to Dani Kessel Odom of ScreenRant, the storylines feel unplanned and didn’t quite resonate. Despite this, the season still has some strong moments and offers glimpses of what makes Virgin River so enjoyable, making it worth watching for dedicated fans.
Will There Be a Virgin River Season 8?
As a big fan of feel-good TV, I’m thrilled to hear that Virgin River is sticking around on Netflix! It’s already become their longest-running show ever, and they’ve renewed it for Season 8 – even before Season 7 finished airing! We’re probably looking at a release sometime in early to mid-2027, and it’ll have the usual 10 episodes. However, there’s some sad news: two of our favorite characters, Mike and Charmaine, won’t be back. Deadline reports that Marco Grazzini and Lauren Hammersley won’t be returning for Season 8, which is definitely a bummer, but I’m still excited to see what happens in Virgin River!
