I’m so excited! They’ve just released some first-look images for Richard Gadd’s new show, ‘Half Man’, which is the follow-up to ‘Baby Reindeer‘. And even better, we now know when it’s coming out! I can’t wait to see it.
The six-episode series will be available on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in April. It will also premiere on HBO Max in the US, Latin America, and Europe that same month.
Thirty years after their school days, Ruben unexpectedly appears at Niall’s wedding, and he’s clearly changed – nervous and secretive. His strange behavior quickly leads to a violent outburst, and we’re taken on a journey through the friends’ shared history, from the 1980s to the present.

Newly released photos from the series, filmed in and around Glasgow last year, feature stars Richard Gadd and Jamie Bell (known for ‘All of Us Strangers’) as the main characters, Ruben and Niall. We also see younger versions of these characters, played by Stuart Campbell (‘SAS Rogue Heroes’) and Mitchell Robertson (‘Curfew’).

Neve McIntosh, known for her role in Doctor Who, plays Niall’s mother, Lori, and Marianne McIvor, who appeared in The Bombing of Pan Am 103, plays Ruben’s mother, Maura, in the images.

The series will also star Charlie De Melo (known from Rivals), Bilal Hasna (The Agency), Julie Cullen (Traces), Amy Manson (The Nevers), Anjli Mohindra (The Lazarus Project), Tim Downie (Outlander), Tom Andrews (Feel Good), and Philippine Velge (The Serpent Queen), alongside the previously announced cast.

The cast includes Stuart McQuarrie (known for The Rig), Sandy Batchelor (SAS Rogue Heroes), Piers Ewart (The Primrose Railway Children), and Scot Greenan (T2 Trainspotting). Joining them are newcomers Charlotte Blackwood, Calum Manchip, and Kate Robson-Stuart.
In a recent interview with GQ, actor Bill Gadd discussed the show, suggesting that while many see it as exploring themes of masculinity, he believes at its heart it’s a story about two men who have difficulty loving each other and don’t know how to express it.
Half Man will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in April 2026.
