Who To Choose For Sybille’s Home Protector Companion Quest In GreedFall 2: The Dying World

Talking to Sybille reveals she’s being hunted by assassins, and you need to figure out who can keep her safe in GreedFall: The Dying World. She thinks her uncle might be able to help, suggesting family is the best place to turn in a difficult situation.

So, I’ve learned things are way more complicated than they seem in this game. Helping someone out always leads to needing another favor, and it looks like there’s some serious drama brewing within the royal family! I figured I’d share everything I’ve found out about getting a bodyguard for Sybille and finishing her quest, ‘Home Protection’. It’s a bit of a ride, but here’s what you need to know.

Home Protection Quest Walkthrough

As a fan, let me tell you about a quest you won’t want to miss! Around the middle of the game, start the “Home Protection” quest by finding Sybille and chatting with her. She’ll need your help and ask you to go with her to Vespe Palace. Once you’re there, you’ll walk through the main hall, then into the reception area, and finally into the Throne Room. Just talk to the prince and let Sybille explain the problem to her uncle – it’s a key part of the quest!

The prince is willing to offer his protection, but only if you assist him first. He believes someone is plotting against him, and the conspiracy involves one of his lovers. He needs you to investigate and stop those responsible before he’ll provide any official help.

Gather as much information as possible by asking lots of questions, then go find out who’s responsible. Leave the throne room and reception area, turn right, and go through the doors. In the courtyard, you’ll find Volusa, one of the king’s mistresses. Talk to her and see what she knows, but don’t expect her to reveal much.

Exit the courtyard and go straight into the East Wing. Look for the first door on your left – it opens into a bedroom with a chest and some coins on the table. Once you’ve left that room, continue down the hallway to another bedroom.

This is the mistress’s room, and you’ll find her diary on the desk. Reading it reveals she fears for her life and thinks there’s a hidden room somewhere in the study. She believes the best time to look for it is after midnight.

Keep searching the room for anything useful, then go back to the reception area and wait until midnight. After that, go to the Throne Room and use your tracking skill to examine the vases. The vase located to the left of the throne will reveal a hidden room.

Head inside and locate a damaging letter on the desk. It reveals a scandal connected to the prince, Sybille, and her family. After finding it, you’ll need to talk to the prince and decide what to do next.

  • Denounce Volusa (-2 Reputation Points with Sybille)
  • Do not denounce Volusa (+2 Reputation Points with Sybille)
  • Return the sensitive document (The prince will become Sybille’s protector)
  • Tell him you are going to look for it (you can now decide to give it to the d’Orsay family, which will reduce rep with the Vespes but increase with the d’Orsays)

Exit the palace and head to the d’Orsay Family residence. Talk to Mister d’Argenton and request protection for Sybille. While explaining the sensitive document to him, you’ll be faced with some important choices.

  • Give him the document (allows you to move on to the next part of the quest)
  • Allow Sybille to make the choice (+2 Reputation Points with Sybille, and allows you to move on with the quest)

Let Sybille decide when to improve your standing with her. She prefers to be the one in charge of her own affairs.

Now, you need to visit Sybille’s parents. Let Sybille talk to them, and then decide whether to side with her parents or with Sybille. If you want to maintain a good relationship with Sybille, it’s best to support her. After a challenging conversation with her parents, the quest will be complete, and you’ll earn 1000 experience points and gain 2 reputation points with Sybille.
